Well, we will never know for sure, but what is for sure, is that Tyson never faced and beat anyone as good as Bowe in his prime. Bowe went to war with Holyfield in their first fight and came out on top, and Holyfield sure could rumble.

Yes it is just opinion :TU:
but didn't Holmes give Holyfield nightmares when they boxed years after Tyson destroyed Holmes? Styles make fights and Tyson had the perfect style t beat Bowe IMO of course :TU:

Oh of course, not saying that because Holyfield beat Tyson, that if follows Bowe beats Tyson.

For what it's worth, I think that if Tyson had fought Holyfield earlier in his career, he would have won, he would just have been too fast out of the blocks, and would have hurt him early, and ground him down.

However, I think Bowe had the jab and long range power, and great hands inside to give Tyson serious nightmares.

Anyway, nothing wrong with a difference of opinion anyway. :TU:

Bowe was good on the inside but know way would he be fast enough to keep Tyson off him and make a dent in the great Iron Mike Tyson.

No one could make a dent in the great Iron Mike eh

I actually love watching Holyfield and Douglas beating him up. The Lewis fight I don't enjoy but Evander and Buster really gave him a right doing. Busters uppercut was a thing of beauty that night and when Mike realises Evanders just all around the better fighter his face is a picture...you should watch those fights instead of Biggs, Berbick and Spinks every night

Agreed. It dawned on Tyson early on, he was in for a rough night's work against Holyfield, and that was never something Mike was interested in. I do think that the post Douglas Tyson though was never really the same again. Tyson peaked early, and sputtered out early, he was good enough at 70% of what he was to beat B level fighters, but against the likes of Holyfield.

I'm not great apologist for Mike, but I think it's clear, that his prime was pretty brief. For that reason, he cannot be rated that highly in the all time pantheon of heavyweight champs, no matter how destructive he looked early on. Plus the fact his best win was over Spinks, who was far from a great heavyweight. In some senses perhaps Berbick was probably his best win, because Holmes was completely ring rusty. I would have liked to have seen what happened if Holmes had 2-3 tune up fights first. Larry's arrogance got the best of him there.

Although Tyson wasn't mentally that tough, he had a great chin, against Douglas, Holyfield, Lewis and even Danny Williams, he took serious punishment before he capitulated, he definitely had a world class chin. You couldn't just do him with one shot, you literally had to hammer him into the canvas like a tent peg.

I actually felt sorry for him against Lewis. You could tell by his body language, he knew he had virtually no chance, it was like a man walking to the gallows, he went in there, and just took his lumps, and boy did Lewis batter him. Tyson was finished by then, and he knew it, I don't think he even wanted to fight by that stage, but what else could he do I guess.

It was a pathetic contest all round.

Tyson knew he had no chance & practically begged his corner to pull him out after seven rounds.

Lewis fought like he was fighting Godzilla rather than a shot opponent who stood zero chance against him & carried Tyson into the eighth round, when he should have decimated him inside of three rounds: even Manny Steward was peed off with Lewis.

Tyson & his hangers-on were only there for the payday & Tyson was so desperate for the money that he was angling for a rematch during the interviews in the immediate aftermath of the fight. :o

Tomasino, the poll now stands at 50 to 12 in favour of Tyson being able to fight on the inside! I think my friend, this shows without a doubt you are wrong in your opinion of Tyson :D

I appreciate you taking the time to try to change my opinion but I see with my own eyes. Mike was exciting, fast, powerful and when I was a boy in the 80s he was fearsome...however when I watch his fights now with a more critical eye I see his flaws stand out...and those of his opponents. When he got in against the cream he folded. He clinched and butted and elbowed on the inside but was never comfortable there. He liked a rest inside and hated it when someone wanted to attack him there.

I stand by my assertion that he was not a great inside fighter and I reckon a good few of the best heavyweights would have shown him up badly. Just my opinion though and you and the Yes poll voters are entitled to yours :TU:

Absolutely correct in every way.

Tyson was not a great inside fighter & someone of his height & with his style should have been so much better at it.

Opinionated means refusing to change your opinion in spite of facts to the contrary. Often opinionated people refuse to listen to anything that even remotely contradicts their opinion. They cannot grow unless they process new information or experiences, so don't even waste your time trying to enlighten them.

Give your ego a break you stupid little fan boy. I tried to be diplomatic towards your blind idiocy but now am just going to ignore you. I've rarely seen you post anything resembling sense on here anyway. Now go watch your Tyson porn, gimp.
