Why this will be Floyd's LAST FIGHT

Post by caldo2025 »

I'm not a huge fan of Dan Rafael or his pathetic webcam connections but his recent article about Floyd's first ever televised sparring session really has me thinking that this is really Floyd's last fight.

For 48 fights, Floyds made a point to close his sparring sessions to the media. No exceptions. Everyone on this site and Boxing analysts alike say that there's no way Floyd passes up on getting to 50-0. So if Floyd was going to fight a 50th time, why would he now choose to open up his sessions to cameras and footage that may assist his 50th opponent with that piece of the puzzle that no one has been able to find?

Maybe it's because he knew that he would trounce these sparring partners. One of the guys hasn't fought a pro fight in years but the other was an undefeated pro with 17 wins under his belt. He demolished both in 30 minutes of non stop sparring. Maybe he just realizes that he's got 48 fights of tape footage that people could try to examine for flaws so what's the point in hiding it now?

Or maybe THIS IS REALLY IT? Maybe, we really are about to see Floyd fight for the last time and that's why he doesn't care who has film on him in sparring. My vote is with the latter and I really think that Floyd hangs them up for good in a few weeks.

Maybe he felt guilty charging everyone for the Berto fight so he gave everyone a sweetener, that and he's an attention whore who realises he has to do something different to stop everyone from writing what a pathetic matchup this is.

Glad you pointed that out before I did :TU:

I don't think he'll retire. The 50 or the 49 or 51, 52, I actually don't think Floyd will give a toss about. It's just a number, boring. However, this is a chap that's always in shape and he's able to beat his best opponents at the art of boxing, with pretty much contemptuous ease. He's got a fantastic work ethic and a very effective style and I really can't see him sitting at home for a year when he's still got it. Floyd can do this for 4 or 5 more years if he wants to - no problem! Do I think he will? No. Because it's hard work. But certainly I see him carrying on. If anything - assuming he beats Berto - then I think the 50 will take on significance - simply because the TV stations would be able to very, very, unimaginatively ram it down everybody's throat until we're all fast asleep.
He'll do it........and then there'll be a 51, so the mythical "50" actually means completely jack sh*t.

No way will this be Mayweather's last fight.

He'll probably reliquinsh all his belts after Berto & announce his retirement, then he'll announce a comeback next Spring in what will be the biggest money fight ever!

Who cares? Berto will flop numbers wise, and will be an equally poor, horrible lop-sided hugfest scored 120-108 by Morretti who's probably already filled in his scorecard. And with a bit of luck it will be the last time Floyd disgraces a boxing ring. His product sucks and noone's buying any more.

I think Floyd is secretly trying to make something happen in the background and making Ellerbe just come out and deny it so they can keep it under wraps until he figures out what hes going to do

Given Mayweather's longevity, and comments about his unpopular showings, I can't help but wonder if there's a certain Englishman who perhaps might have had a rematch and a massive pay day - Ricky Hatton.
Of course Pacquiao put paid to that, but Hatton admits that he'd already blown the weight there.
