Another: Sergio Palma. I remember seeing him a couple of times in the early 1980s and he had great hair.

George Foreman had a really cool hair cut back in 1971-1972.
It looked just like Jim Brown's did.
Finely sculpted and symmetrical.
almost looked like it was sort of a football helmet on top of their heads.
I wouldn't be surprised if they both had the same hair-stylist in Hollywood back then,as
Jim Brown was an idol of George Foreman's.

There was a thread a few weeks ago in the British section about mustaches, it had some wonderful hair dos in there.

Always like Shannon Brigg's 'do, especially when he wore it swept up during a fight. He looked smashing.

If you like an afro then you can't go wrong with Vonzell Johnson or 70's Jimmy Ellis.

80's Welsh featherweight Peter Harris used to sport a pretty mean perm as I recall.

Nigel Benn partially blamed his loss to Watson on his hairdo. He'd spent hours in the salon getting it done and said afterwards that the braids were so tight that they were stretching his facial skin which was a distraction.

Mitch Green had that tight afro when he first turned pro, Michael Spinks had an afro something that was unique during most of 1981, and Greg Page had a smooth jheri curl.

Frank,

Great picture!

Can you contact me via private message? I am a documentary filmmaker. I am working on a film that was shot 10 years ago and never finished or released. It is about boxing. I am a producer and the editor.

Here is the IMDB link so you can see who is in it.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0824749/combined

I joined your site to confirm stats and to see pictures of past boxers that I came across via a Google search.

You have some great pictures and I would like to see if we can use some of them in the film.

Thanks

Tommy Hearns had a wild wet look perm around '84/'85.

Paulie Mallignagi was a slave to fashion, so much so his corner had to cut his hair between rounds in one bout.

Nigel Benn tried out a few wild hair styles, he was at the hairdressers for about 10 hours before his bout with Michael Watson.

Howard Eastman used to look pretty cool with his hair and beard dyed blond.
