Tim Bradley fires Joel Diaz

Post by caldo2025 »

Interesting move here. I never understood how and why this sort of thing happens in boxing. Sometimes the move pays off and sometimes the results are awful but it must be very difficult to break up a team that came from nothing to World Champion. Hopefully the move pays for TB because he hasn't looked so great the last few fights.

This is unfortunate, I think Diaz is an outstanding trainer but egos can get in the way of a good working relationship.

I think this is a big hit to Diaz and his future. Listening in between rounds in TB's last few fights was frustrating to watch. It seemed that Diaz was demanding things that TB was not capable of. TB's been through a ton of wars in recent years and has gutted most of those fights out. Whether he deviated from the plan or not is not the issue, Diaz chastising him in between rounds for things that happened and he couldn't change didn't seem to be very useful to me. To me, it's always about the next round and dealing with the moment and Diaz seemed to be so stuck on what happened rounds ago. I can see why it happened from TB's perspective. But what do i know? Maybe it was TB's fault.

Tim's problem is that after he got that gift against Pac and the public hated him for it, his feelings were hurt.
So then, when Tim was chilling on the shelf, Arum started spewing nonsense about not getting Tim big fights because of his style of fighting- So Tim began drinking Arum's poison koolaid regarding his fighting style, and beginning with the Provo fight, he basically stopped boxing and following his corner's advice in exchange for a 'no instructions needed' brawling style that includes blocking punches with his face, to make himself more "exciting" and fan-friendly. Too bad the fans will never be his friends.
Not only did his new fan-friendly style not get him further ahead in popularity and big fights, he's visibly a little "punchy" now.

He can go ahead and hire Joe Toe-head to train him now if he's still going to be chasing that "fan-friendly" rabbit down into the hole.

I blame Arum. Every bad thing in the world is his fault.
