Excellent is a lot better than good. They aren't the same thing.
Most people would probably consider Pedroza, Gomez, and Chavez to be more than just "good fighters". Lockridge was right there with them when he fought them.

Pedroza, Chavez and Gomez were in another level. I do agree that he got snubbed in the Gomez fight in Puerto Rico. But, the other there fights, clear wins by Chavez and the ScorpionAmbling Alp II wrote:Excellent is a lot better than good. They aren't the same thing.

They were clear wins for you because you are a big fan of Pedroza and Chavez.
Lockridge showed in four fights (against the three of them) that he could fight at their level.

Lockridge was a beast. One of only two men to stop Barry Michael in his 60 fight career.Tomasino wrote:Controversial wrote:I take it most have seen this video of him, sad sad sight

Tragic. The man was a true warrior in his day. So many have a later life like this in boxing.
Michael is now a successful promoter and entrepreneur. Sad to hear Lockridge's life didn't progress in a similarly successful manner.
Re: Rocky Lockridge
Yes, he was a beast and he was one of the most under appreciate fighters who still not get inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
Re: Rocky Lockridge
Exactly. I am this site's biggest Bazooka Gomez fan and Lockridge won that fight 10-5 or 9-6. I had him definitely beating Pedroza in the first fight and had the second a draw. One of the most unappreciated fighters of the past 30-35 yearsAmbling Alp II wrote:They were clear wins for you because you are a big fan of Pedroza and Chavez.

No way in hell he beat the great Eusebio Pedroza. Pedroza came down the stretch and fairly won. The second fight, was much more easier for Eusebio.

There was nothing easy about either right for Pedroza. Elmer, when it comes to your favourites, you are not just biased but often blind.
Re: Rocky Lockridge
Lockridge was flat out robbed in the 1st fight with Pedroza. Pedroza did almost nothing in the first 8 rounds. I had Rocky winning by 5, Gil Clancy had him winning by 5, Tim Ryan had him winning by 5, Harold Lederman only had him by 2, and I think just about every other Boxrec poster who's commented had him winning. I scored the second fight for Pedroza by 2, but that first bout was a travesty. Heck the Panamanian judge Rodolfo Hill gave it to his countryman by 10 points ! Now that's shady.

The great Eusebio Pedroza is not well liked in this forum. Anybody that believes Rocky Lockridge won the first fight, gotta be delusional, doesn't like Pedroza or American biased.
Re: Rocky Lockridge
I make no secret of the fact I dislike Pedroza. He was a filthy fighter. Good jab, good on his feet, very durable. So why did he have to resort to breaking the rules so often ? Plus he was the recipient of at least 3 dodgy decisions. Lockridge 1, Taylor, and LaPorte.

Pedroza came from behind and won in my estimation, the last five rounds down the stretch. Give the Panamanian credit for that.Seamus wrote:I make no secret of the fact I dislike Pedroza. With Bernard Taylor, you don't win fights by running around like a chicken. That's why I was glad the judges saw it at least a draw. To me, Pedroza won that fight. He was the busier fighter, fighting in Taylor's hometown/backyard. You got throw punches to win the title. Not running around.
With Juan LaPorte? LaPorte is just a crying baby. deal with it! You lost LaPorte!

I think we can all predict elmo's response to that one.
The great Eusebio Pedrosa was NOT AT HIS PEAK for that one, etc,.lots more capitalised equivocations.

Yes, Pedroza was a greenish fighter at the time. He only had about 20 fights. Not even his own countrymen gave him a chance against one of boxing's greatest all time punchersCounter-puncher wrote:palooka wrote:Zamora cracked that chin.

Re: Rocky Lockridge
Like I have said before, anybody that thought that Rocky Lockridge won that first fight against the great Eusebio Pedroza, gotta be DELUSIONAL, DOESN'T LIKE PEDROZA OR IS AMERICAN BIASED. I saw the fight again, and Pedroza won 145-142 in my scorecard book. The early rounds were dominated by Lockridge. But by the 7th or 8th round, the fight was dominated then by Pedroza down the stretch.
I do not agree with the scoring of the Panamanian judge, Rodolfo Hill, 149-139, in favor of Pedroza. That was biased.
I do not agree with the scoring of the American judge, Harold Lederman, 144-142, in favor of Lockridge...That was biased all the way.
I do agree with the scoring of the South African referee, Stanley Christodulu, 147-141, in favor of Pedroza...It was A CLEAR WIN BY THE PANAMANIAN SCORPION.
Maybe the Panamanian and the American judge wanted their countryman to win badly. As it showed in the scorecards.

Lopez's third fight against john-john Molina well worth checking out too mate
Re: Rocky Lockridge
I wish someone on youtube would post the 2nd fight between Lopez and Molina. If I remember right, Molina looked like a hall of famer and diced up Lopez in front of his hometown fans who took the stoppage rather hard.

I remember watching that fight very well. It was a great fight. I had Lockridge winning by a point, but have no problem with the decision.
