Wilder : Wlad has more belts. But I got....

Post by Redback Rasta »

Deontay Wilder: “Wladimir Klitschho has more belts than me, but I got the most important belt in boxing

"I think that’s (Wlad) a fight that’s possible to happen in 2016. If I think about that fight, I think about late September of 2016. This is nothing that has been negotiated or something that’s been discussed with no one, that is just when I think about that fight".

I know that fight is definitely going to happen, as long as he keeps winning, and I’ll definitely keep winning. That’s what the world wants to see at the end of the day, everybody wants a Wilder-Klitschko fight and I think when it happens, it’s gonna be the biggest fight in a long time, in boxing".

"Everyone wants to see that one because a lot of people want to come around and discredit me for being the champion and saying that Klitschko is the real champion. The only way I look at it is that Wladimir has more belts than me, but I got the most important belt in boxing, and that’s the WBC belt".

I guess it's important to have confidence, is about all I can say to that. I mean, I can't see anyone sanely arguing that Wilder is the "real" champion, but I guess it's part of his job to believe in himself. Whether it's the WBC, IBF, WBO, or interim pan-pacific youth MBC title, I suppose we would have to expect a fighter to say something like that.

September 2016 may be too early still. How else will Wilder have enough time to defend his title against Tony Grano, Danny Williams, and Malcolm Tann? I heard they were wanting to fight Manuel Charr after he recovers, but decided not to risk it when they found out he'd only been shot four times instead of the rumored six.

No way they put him in with Williams, he's won his last two fights!

If Wilder is trying to claim that his WBC belt supercedes Wlad's belts, then he is clueless about boxing. Fortunately, he probably knows that his statement is not true.

The fact is, Wlad is so established as the divisional king that if he just vacated all of his belts and someone else picked them all up, then Wlad would still be the king. It's like... if Mayweather were the IBF champion, and Amir Khan were the WBC champion, we wouldn't need to debate who was the welterweight king. It's not the guy with the WBC belt.

Too early? Wlad will be 40 by that time, and Wilder has already enough experience to take this challenge.

Edit: sorry, did not read carefully the 1st time and took your remark seriously

Wilder's only chance is waiting Wlad out and hoping that he ages quickly. I see this as an easy fight for Wlad unless Wilder learns that he can't back up against top quality fighters. It almost cost him the last fight against mediocre opponent. He's got plenty of power to fight moving forward.

I have no doubt Wilder will bide his time and wait until Wlad is either ripe for the picking or wait til he moves aside all together.

Let's ignore the post and play a game on the title...

What is he smoking as I wouldn't some of what he's having? There's no way he is the man, he ain't at the moment and he might never be.

If you are not the man in your own mind you have no place in boxing.

Wilder may look at it that way but I think most people look at it like Wlad is the heavyweight champ and Wilder just has a belt..

Or any walk of life. But at some point the waterwings have to come off,and while Deontay Wilder thinks he maybe the man to take over he had got to start making those moves to become the man.

If he's smart he'll be patient. No point taking on Wlad just yet.

In a choice between Wladamir and Povetkin the smart choice is Wladamir. Wilder cant buy his way out of a fight with Pov, unless he can orchestrate a unification.

Wlad also gets paid more, is better known, has an Olympic gold medal instead of a bronze and gets to shag Hayden Panettiere.
