Was at the fight last night decent scrap Keates got the nod but myself and everyone I spoke to/was with had Paddock winning by 2-3 rounds.
Time for area title fights to have judges? Ironically it was Terry O'Connor scoring (his poor scoring in the first Fury/McDermott fight led to English title fights being scored by 3 judges).
Luke Paddock v Andy Keates / area title fights scoring

Saw quite a few tweets and Facebook comments on this and they agreed with u paddock 2-3 rounds. Heard it was good fight possible rematch. Credit to paddock as i saw his interview after the fight very respectful towards keates and the ref.

Both top lads. I had Keates just edging it. It was very close though.
Judges for all fights would be ideal but the Promoter just cant afford another 3 wages plus expenses on small hall shows.

Spot on mate cost is prohibitive on small hall showsThe Insider wrote:Both top lads. I had Keates just edging it. It was very close though.

Yeah thats a fair point (especially with the increasing medical fees) just find it annoying sometimes think some refs are actually good refs but poor judges, especially when doing both (I'd class Terry Oconnor in this bracket). The Insider wrote:Both top lads. Mind you there only ended up being 3 fights on the card Friday (and it was well attended) so 3 judges could have been brought in for less than the 2 boxers (the fight that was pulled).

Perhaps the 4th fight wasnt finacially viable????ste1983 wrote:Yeah thats a fair point (especially with the increasing medical fees) just find it annoying sometimes think some refs are actually good refs but poor judges, especially when doing both (I'd class Terry Oconnor in this bracket). The Insider wrote:Both top lads. Either way it would have been an extra £450/500 to the bill. Would the boxers involved be prepared to foot the extra between them and pay for the Judges themselves? Perhaps the Board should offer this as an option??????
Re: Luke Paddock v Andy Keates / area title fights scoring
Well I think injury was the reason given, surely a 4th fight was financially viable tickets were roughly priced the same as shows with 5-10 fights on the card and the show was well attended. If that fight wasn't financially viable promoters must be losing shit loads on other shows. Having said that i'd rather a 4-5 card with a decent matched headline like this had (hence me going) than a 8+ fights card full of standard 4/6 rounders. The Insider wrote:Perhaps the 4th fight wasnt finacially viable????ste1983 wrote:Yeah thats a fair point (especially with the increasing medical fees) just find it annoying sometimes think some refs are actually good refs but poor judges, especially when doing both (I'd class Terry Oconnor in this bracket). The Insider wrote:Both top lads. I think we both know the answer to the boxers footing the additional cost
