boxers from 2 eras on one record
boxers from 2 eras on one record
Talking about boxers with 2 fighters (or more) on their records that seem to be from 2 (or more) different eras, for example muagbi has hagler and mcclellan on his resume, foreman has Ali/Frazier and holyfield/ Morrison and de la Hoya has paez/whitaker/Chavez and may/pac and Hopkins, you get the idea !
Re: boxers from 2 eras on one record
Ali has Archie Moore who lost to Marciano and Berbick who lost to Tyson. Jack Sharkey has both Dempsey and Louis on his record which is a good one.
Re: boxers from 2 eras on one record
dingaan thobela had Tony Lopez/mikel kessler
Re: boxers from 2 eras on one record
Looking at Ali, his opponents fought from 1935 (Moore) up to 2002 (Holmes). That 67 year span seems quite remarkable.cfang wrote:Ali has Archie Moore who lost to Marciano and Berbick who lost to Tyson. Jack Sharkey has both Dempsey and Louis on his record which is a good one.

Joe Walcott fought Harold Johnson and his son (not on the same night).
Larry Holmes fought Norton/Ali, Tyson, Holyfield and McCall. That's the best part of 3 eras.

Jorge Castro has a decent spread of fighters:
Norris, Jones, Johnson, JD Jackson, Duran, JC Gomez, Mayfield, Jirov, Rothmann etc.
Whittaker - Trinidad/DLH, Vasquez/McGirt, Chavez/Nelson/Paez/Haugen/Ramirez
Pendleton - Trice/Randall/Mayweather/Paul/Bramble, Whittaker/Spann/Paez/Ruelas/Lopez, Trinidad/Phillips/Millett/Tackie/Page then Hatton. Pretty crazy resume, not including the Parisis and Tysons of this world.
Howard Davis Jr - Watt, Rosario, Taylor, Camacho, McGirt, Roseblatt

Bugner fighting a father and son - Joe and Marvis Frazier - has a fairly unique ring to it. I wonder how many other occurrences there have been of that?mercman wrote:Joe Bugner fought Henry Cooper and Frank Bruno. Bugner also, of course, fought Joe Frazier and his son, Marvis Frazier.

These are fairly recent examples, but cruiserweight contender Dmitry Kudryashov stopped Oleksandr Okhrei and his father Kostiantyn Okhrei, while heavyweight fringe-contender Marcin Rekowski knocked out Elijah McCall, lost a split decision to his father Oliver, then won a UD against Oliver in a rematch.Redback Rasta wrote:Bugner fighting a father and son - Joe and Marvis Frazier - has a fairly unique ring to it. Re: boxers from 2 eras on one record
It's kinda weird. I know the fight happened and not entirely sure I watched it at the time but it's at the end of the JC Chavez docu. In that same docu it shows a very young JC Jnr looking pretty goofy and I'd put him at no more than about 15 but only a couple of years after he beat his dad, he's in with him. Guess he [was] just very young looking.
