Mayweather allegedly took a banned WADA sustance

I don't know enough about re-hydration techniques and maskign agents to know whether this is a rum decision or a legitimate need by Mayweather.

Not a banned substance. Just used a technique that is not allowed

It can mask banned substances. It's not only used for that. It's been mentioned elsewhere on this forum that iv's are used for rehydration after weigh ins a lot in boxing as it replenishes you quicker.

Thread title says he 'allegedly' took banned substances. It doesn't make that assumption in the article

Must admit, this really doesn't look good.

The testing is a joke, how can you have retrospective exemption?

This stinks frankly.

Whether they are at it or they aren't, right now guys like Mayweather and Bolt are too big to fail, even if they were.

Yes, unfortunately nobody involved in the administration of various sports, wants to destroy it's own reputation by dobbing in their biggest stars.

I reckon Bolt is one of the clean ones, I think he is just freakishly built which allows him to run so fast.

If bolt did get done, it was absolutely destroy athletic for the next 5 years.

Disagree with that. Firstly, "destroy" and "5 years" don't exactly balance imho.

Secondly, I reckon there's plenty of people in sport that would have the guts to go after even the biggest stars. Sure he's massive but I'll wager that most of Floyd's money still goes to himself.

If people want to scream and shout about something they should get after these f*cking c*nts in Qatar, which has been proven in book-form now by the Sunday Times that it's tainted. Anyone involved in that massive shower of sh*t has got poor, honest, hard-working people's blood on there hands.

Edit: and the ones in Fifa, I might add.

Doesn't seem too long ago that the likes of deserter and myself were LOLing on here about people advocating for Armstrong. Usain Bolt is a freak and any way you dress it up he's the greatest sprinter ever. Lance is the greatest tdf rider there's ever been. If their peers are all at it, they're still the best. For sprinters it has long been guilty until proven innocent for me. Anyone running sub-10 is more likely to be dodgy than not.

James...how can Bolt beat people who are juicing if he's not? It's a fairy-tale, mate.

if some school kids can post 12.?? and teenagers in athletics clubs can get down to 11.5, then I don't think it's a tremendous leap for a fully matured, 6'5'' tall Jamaican fast-twitch-fibred athlete to break 10 seconds, personally.

No it isn't. Bolt is 6' 5" with a huge stride length, and is also immensely physically powerful with huge upper body strength. There is not another single 100/200 meter sprinter built like him - he also has phenomenal turnover speed (number of strides) for such a big man, and a great start for a big guy. Bolt is a true freak of nature. You only have to look at his build - it's like something out of a comic book, tiny waist and huge shoulders, with supersized legs and arms.

The margins conferred by juicing these days, are not so great, back in the 1970's-1980's the performance enhancing drugs were far more powerful, because they weren't able to detected the masking agents used to hide anabolic steroids, which are much more powerful than what people can get away with taking now. That's why Florence Griffith Joyners record will maybe never be broken now. The gains for men were not so dramatic, as the artificial testosterone only enhanced their maleness, whereas for women, it had a dramatic masculinising effect.

talking of sprinters, I would have loved to have seen Prime Linford Christie run against Usain........in actual fact, in one sense it would not have been good as that gold medal would likely have never occurred - however, similar to Bolt, Christie's power was in his drive over the last 60 metres. Also Christie was mentally and psychologically as good as anyone.
I'm still not sure he ever wins a race - probably not, but I just would have loved to have seen them.

Christie wouldn't have had a cat in hell's chance. Just not quick enough. Bolt isn't intimidated by anyone. Christie would have been thrashed over the last 60, nobody can live with bolt once he gets into top gear.

Christie's best time was 9.87 - Bolt has run under that 23 times. He's run under 9.8 12 times.....I think those stats lay that one to rest.

So you think that the only reason Maradonna is arguably the best footballer that ever lived is drugs - if you do, then you're delusional. No drugs can give you talent like that.

No, I don't think that. But it didn't hurt. And Mayweather would still have been a great fighter.

But we'll never know for sure how things would have panned out.

Strange how it has come to light only now, 3 days before he fights again. Maybe for promotion and hype or any other reasons?

Exactly. It's not selling great so make him out to be even more of a bad guy.

Re-hydration is key to boxing for obvious reasons so I'm sure a hell of a lot of fighters do it. Mayweather was definitely re-hydrating, was he masking? Well i guess the important thing to know first is what exactly it could mask. I know it can mask blood doping but is this something mayweather would need? I don't know so would need someone who knows to inform me

Would allowing drug use make sports less popular?

I don't get why they ban it.

Just make everyone declare what they are taking, so we all know what's going on.

Are you in favour of removing padding from gloves, too?

Just asking.
