I like Graziano, but LaMotta would have tore him up!

I feel strongly about this one too. I have Lamotta destroying Graziano.I think Rocky knew it also, There was an attempt I believe to set up a fight between these two,but Rocky wasnt real interested. I heard this somewhere, cant remeber where though.

Rocky was a very charismatic guy\fighter. Seemed like good people too.Classic story of Boxing helping a guy beat the streets.

..there talk of a match between the two, but it wasn't really serious...just keeping their names in the news during a quiet stretch. lamotta would have battered him all around the ring and both knew it, as well as just about everbody else . rocky liked to come in at around 155 and though a good right hand puncher wasn't nearly strong enough or rugged enough to stay in there with jake.

In fact LaMotta was a very light puncher, as his 30 ko's in 130 bouts attests to. I see no reason to think that Rocky couldn't have gone the distance with him and given him a good fight. Everyone else did.

Oh, and Hi! I'm new to this forum. Great topics here!

..welcome, nero...lamotta was not a great kayo puncher...but he wasn't a light puncher either. could batter you pretty good. as for he and rocky..forget it...rocky's punches would bounce off jake...(the ones that landed...jake was cuter than most people think in riding with them) and lamotta was a bull strong middleweight...rocky not so much so...jake would pummel him all around the ring and stop him. jake knew so..rocky knew so...the guys along jacob's beach knew so....and..i repeat...the talk was just that..talk.

Fritzie Zivic(a great fighter, but a WELTERweight) said that he would give you 2 to 1 odds that if LaMotta hit a fly the fly would get up and hit back. That's pretty telling. I agree with you that Rocky would lose to Jake and that LaMotta could take Graziano's best, but it definitely wouldn't be the stoppage that people here envision. Look at Jake's record. 30 ko's in 106 fights!! This is NOT a KO puncher. Just about every good fighter he faced went the distance with him. Why not Rocky?

..rocky was a good fighter....but not a REALLY REALLY good fighter..a middleweight who was the scourge of the welterweight division. though, to be fair he would be fighting mostly as a junior middle....155 or so was a good weight for him. i think jake's all out body attack on him would end it before 15...if nothing else rocky would succumb to exhaustion.

but hey...the match was never made....so..we'll never know, will we?

..oops..i forgot to mention fritzie...if fritzie stuck his thumbs in the eyes of a fly...the fly would still have a few hundred others to see him with, thus taking away 50% of fritzie's attack.

put your money on the fly.

It was said Fritzie Zivic could start a fight in an empty room. Pugnacious guy he was.
