King Khan back on small screen

We put up loads of articles on BBN and as you'll know I plug stuff if we've got it first, or if I think it's a really good read.

That's a good article, good point. Looking at all the TV listings yesterday I saw they droned on about Khan for Saturday on ITV, but no mention of Jennings.

I thought, but then again if Jennings fight is only on ITV4 then that explains it, but still

.

The show on ITV1 is about an hour and something tho, what else will be on?

There's 90 minutes on ITV4 and 105 mins on ITV1 so they must be showing plenty! It's a bloody huge bill mind, so they'll have plenty to choose from.

And of course, there'll be plenty of (deserved) hype about Khan.

In Jim's piece, I really like his anecdote about watching the boxing in the town centre pub. Really got me buzzing with memories of how I used to love going to the boozer to watch Nige Benn.

Ah yes. I remember watching Benn-Eubank II in a little village pub, which was also hosting an 18th birthday bash. The draw verdict was announced at just about the same time all us teenagers were getting a bit carried away. 7 police cars, 1 riot van, the police dogs, an ambulance, a dozen arrests, and much bloodshed later, things calmed down...... Now that was a night.

I know we all jumped on the slagging off the BBC, but I think after a few teething problems, ITV are doing much better now. Would like to see more variety (i.e. different promoters / stateside fights etc) - but it seems nobody knows, or cares to publish, what that "exclusive" word means when FW/ITV announced their relationship.

For years, forums like this one and others asked / emailed the BBC asking for the undercard action to be on BBC choice etc - now ITV are doing that.

Khan is still the draw for now, so I didn't expect Jennings to get promoted to the main channel etc - but hey, look at Scott Harrison and Johnny Nelson/Enzo Mac - first fights on ITV4, second fights on the main network.

We all go on about the glory days of ITV boxing in the early/mid 90's - but would Michael Jennings been on TV at all in the days of 40 minute shows and nothing else - I very much doubt it.

Yes that's an excellent article. It's a heavy weight on his shoulders, but here's hoping Khan can somehow carry the future of British boxing back into the mainstream.

Full page boxing coverage in London's Metro today - or more like a sports network press release, as usual.

Interview with Wayne Alexander, in the lead up to his fight with McDonagh on the Lacy/Calzaghe bill.

The writer kept refering to Wayne as "London's only world champion", trying to give the impression his WBU title was on the same level as the one Lacy and Joe are fighting for.

False advertising, and it should carry a disclaimer -

Watch out for 'Mutt' on this bill.

I've spoke to him recently and i think he will do the job.

Not many people have seen him fight, but he is very, very underated.

I know that Warren has said that he doesn't want to put Khan as top of the bill, but when he is appearing on ITV1, and the nominal main event is on ITV4 after , i think it shows that Khan is the main event.

So what happens if Khan has a knock over job inside of 2 rounds, will they show more of the bouts on ITV1, or will we get almost an hour of hot air by the guests.

Also one small critisism of Khans fans, i hope they don't all walk out after Khan has boxed, like they did in Scotland. It did cause a few problems there.
