Dillian Whyte
Re: Dillian Whyte
If Joshua is chinny White will find him out, I'm not on board after Price. We've got to see them hit hard and continue before we crown them.

Re: Dillian Whyte
Price always looked chinny, even from the amateurs, only the blindly optimistic couldn't see that. No sign with AJ to be fair, more likely it's going to be a stamina thing, with all that muscle. But still yes it's going to be interesting to see if Whyte lands on his chin ( again ) .

Just showed Dillian's face seconds after Cornish KO. Sweating bullets!

In the nicest possible way, Joshua didnt look rock solid in the ams.MightyWarrior wrote:Price always looked chinny, even from the amateurs, only the blindly optimistic couldn't see that. Fury & Chisora had marginally more am fights than AJ & turned pro much younger. Neither got dropped or stopped in the ams.
Joshua got stopped, dropped twice by Whyte & wobbled regularly in the Olympics whilst securing some controversal wins.
His chin is below average - weak IMO

Re: Dillian Whyte
TBH I didn't really watch the London Olympic boxing, it seemed too rigged in Brits favour & I never really bought AJ as a once in a lifetime Brit Olympic champ, as I recall some very dodgy close decisions, but I didn't know he'd been wobbled a few times...don't recall much made of it, so I'm guessing it wasn't too alarming. I've seen the Whyte knockdowns, and AJ seemed ok when he got up ...

He was very lucky against the Cuban just like Ogogo was lucky against Khytrov. Some farcical judging and Aiba have been a bit of a joke since in some ways. The APB has been a great idea pathetically done.
Re: Dillian Whyte
I'm inclined to agree with this to be honest. I think he thought he'd just be able to walk through Minto and to be fair that's exactly what he did.sendo wrote:To be fair Whyte blatantly approached this fight like he was just going to steamroller Minto visibly didn't give a poo about boxing properly and what could come back at him, and he did flatten Minto convincingly and early. A few more seconds on the bell in the first round and could easily have been stopped there, Minto was hurt pretty bad.
Joshua will be a different level of performance, still wouldn't fancy him, but I can see it going to points.
Jonathan Banks won't let him fight Joshua without a game plan.
Re: Dillian Whyte
He said Cornish would last half a round. Didn't he get counted out at almost exactly that? Don't see why he'd be shocked by his own prediction coming true. Everybody knew Cornish was going over first meaningful punch landed. I'm sure he's a nice lad but this was an awful match up. He reminds me of Tom Dallas, only Dallas was better.spideruski wrote:Just showed Dillian's face seconds after Cornish KO. Sweating bullets!DD

Re: Dillian Whyte
It's a wonder Joshua has gone so far as a pro based on what I'm reading here! You would think he was being bounced off the canvas by every Tom, dick and Harry and onoy ever won anything because it was down to hometown dodgy decisions!
A tiny bit of research proves such talk to be complete bollocks though. What about the World Championships in 2011? Perhaps Joshua is part Azerbaijani?
He got lucky against Savon in London. He then coasted to the final and was involved in a pick em fight against Cammarelle. Could have gone either way and was never close to being a robbery. Similar to the final in the worlds when he went toe to toe against a certified amateur banger, took a load of big shots but kept coming and lost by a point. That time he wasn't so lucky, the local got the nod which is pretty common in the sport.
You'd be forgiven if you thought Joshua was just a big, lumbering oaf who knocks over overmatched opponents. As an am he has two wins over Cammarelle, one of the most decorated super heavies there has ever been!
I'm not fully sold on him but some of the crap written in the British forum about him is amusing. I've seen Hughie Fury described as 'twice the boxer Joshua is' on here!

True regarding the Olympic gold but he did get robbed of the worlds IMO so that counters it for me.

Have seen no signs he can fight inside few that he can counterpunch and none that his footwork could offset aggression either.
Whether or not Whyte is the lump to do it remains the question, obviously, but it'll be nice to see AJ in with someone willing & able to hit him back for once.
Re: Dillian Whyte
Some farcial comments for sure, but then it's always been like this for our best prospects. Still remember when Haye and Froch were emerging there were people on here swearing blind they wouldn't get past British level. Haye would get chinned by Enzo Mac and Mark Hobson as he had been stopped easily in the Ams and knocked silly by super middle Lolenga Mock. Froch had no KO power, was too easy to hit and was lazy in fights, so would get outclassed by anyone above British level.lillywhite14 wrote:It's a wonder Joshua has gone so far as a pro based on what I'm reading here! Funnily enough the people making all that noise soon go quiet when proven wrong, only to move straight on to the next prospect hoping to play 'I told you so'. Some people just seem to get their jollies that way, desperate to try and stand out from a majority opinion so they write any old bollocks.

Re: Dillian Whyte
Judging corruption and overall chicanery in one contest is not done to atone for the same done in another, its not a surprise that the home nation in any Olympics gets a few dubious and contentious nods, Roy Jones Jnr is the best example (in boxing) of this.Naandrew wrote:MightyWarrior wrote:TBH I didn't really watch the London Olympic boxing, it seemed too rigged in Brits favour & I never really bought AJ as a once in a lifetime Brit Olympic champ, as I recall some very dodgy close decisions, but I didn't know he'd been wobbled a few times...don't recall much made of it, so I'm guessing it wasn't too alarming. Re: Dillian Whyte
Dillian looked poor but he had a bad shoulder. I hope he is fully fit for Decemeber as he'll be up against it even if he is in peak condition. I think it's just come too soon for Dillian and he's not quite there yet following his suspension. Plus I think Joshua is too quick and athletic and could just overwhelm Dillian.
But id love it if Dillian makes a real fight of it. He's got the power if nothing else.

How diffrent it would have been if the correct decision was made and savon knocked joshua out in the 1st round of the Olympics.Naandrew wrote:MightyWarrior wrote:TBH I didn't really watch the London Olympic boxing, it seemed too rigged in Brits favour & I never really bought AJ as a once in a lifetime Brit Olympic champ, as I recall some very dodgy close decisions, but I didn't know he'd been wobbled a few times...don't recall much made of it, so I'm guessing it wasn't too alarming. Re: Dillian Whyte
Joshua looks to have improved an awful lot since his loss to Dilliam. White does seem to be a touch overweight while Joshua is carrying no spare. White does say it as he sees it while Anthony has a party line he sticks to, he is very well schooled with PR. Joshua seems to have a lot of power at long range and at short, his punches are tighter than Dillian's too.black panther wrote:Dillian looked poor but he had a bad shoulder. Re: Dillian Whyte
Joshua would have turned over a lot sooner, with less fanfare but still would have been a Matchroom fighter. He would probably be further along in his development too. Losing to Savon 'officially' wouldn't have seen him lose his World silver medal ( he actually boxed better in the worlds than in the Olympics...pressure perhaps? Perish the thought! ) or his ABA triumphs. Make no mistake, Joshua would have been much sought after.rio wrote:How diffrent it would have been if the correct decision was made and savon knocked joshua out in the 1st round of the Olympics.Naandrew wrote:MightyWarrior wrote:TBH I didn't really watch the London Olympic boxing, it seemed too rigged in Brits favour & I never really bought AJ as a once in a lifetime Brit Olympic champ, as I recall some very dodgy close decisions, but I didn't know he'd been wobbled a few times...don't recall much made of it, so I'm guessing it wasn't too alarming. As I mention, he didn't box superbly in the Olympics. The Savon fight never really worried me, take the head guards off and stick them two in a pro fight and Joshua knocks him cold, Savon has always been a little vulnerable. The worry I have with Joshua is his chin and his size. His arms and shoulders look too big to me and the chin thing will hang over every heavyweight prospect until he's taken a few.

Re: Dillian Whyte
Last night Whyte looked similar in style to the lazier version of Chisora.
I think it's a mistake for Dillian Whyte to take on Joshua now. If I were guiding him I'd say follow Joshua and pick up each title as he vacates and moves up before boxing him at World title level for bigger money.
Currently I see a Joshua win within 3.

Oh I agree no way am I condoning corruption at all. In terms of countering what I meant is that AJ clearly shown he was a top draw amateur in the Worlds in 2011 regardless of whether anyone thought he was very luck in 2012.palooka wrote:Judging corruption and overall chicanery in one contest is not done to atone for the same done in another, its not a surprise that the home nation in any Olympics gets a few dubious and contentious nods, Roy Jones Jnr is the best example (in boxing) of this.Naandrew wrote:MightyWarrior wrote:TBH I didn't really watch the London Olympic boxing, it seemed too rigged in Brits favour & I never really bought AJ as a once in a lifetime Brit Olympic champ, as I recall some very dodgy close decisions, but I didn't know he'd been wobbled a few times...don't recall much made of it, so I'm guessing it wasn't too alarming. There are 46 posts in this thread at the moment and at best just a couple of them suggest anything close to what you've posted. Perhaps you're a bit sensitive towards criticism of Joshua and hence believe that it's more common than it is?

I think Whyte working with Banks for another 6, 9, or even 12 months then he would be in a much stronger position to fight AJ, financially and physically.
HOWEVER...it's great the fight has been made. Too many fights in boxing dont, so I think we should be happy it's on and just look forward to it.
Re: Dillian Whyte
DW did not box that well last night but got the win.
He did not.make excuses and a wins a win and he s now got.his shot against aj
DW belief in himself is immense and he s honest I honestly don t think he's worried about aj and he will. Back up his words.
Only criticism of dw last night needs to tighten up defence.

As it stands, Whyte has a win over Joshua and put him on the floor, twice, when they were both wearing headgear and wearing 16oz gloves.mikiesb wrote:DW did not box that well last night but got the win.

Dillian has absolutely no reason to be scared!
Joshua has certainly developed as a fighter and packed on a scary amount of muscle mass ... But as the old adage goes, you can't put muscles on the chin - and both parties will know An: be very aware of this .
I say it's a 50/50.

I would allow their first fight to influence me in anyway, they were raw novices
