YOU plan Joshua's 2015-2016 campaign
Hi all,
simple as that really: how slow/fast would you plan the route for AJ to take? Please bare i mind he has the Whyte fight scheduled for Dec 2015 and rumours of Teper in March 2016..... - plus he stated that he wanted to win the British and European titles so he had gone the traditional route.
Dec 2015: Whyte - wins British / defends Commonwealth
Mar 2016: Teper - wins European title
Jun 2016: Chisora? - defend Brit/Comm/Euro titles
Sep 2016: Jennings or Stiverne or Thompson?
Dec2016: World title fight
Thanks

Whyte is a done deal. Teper is a decent shout as is Jennings, Stiverene or Thompson. Arreola or Joseph Parker would be decent. Haye will probably keep being mentioned if he goes ahead with his threats of a comeback! He needs someone who'll give him some rounds.

He should be able to fit in a 1 round blow out of Tyson Fury somewhere in 2016

Pretty good schedule for AJ ,chisora would be interesting to see if he could last a few rdsT.M.K wrote:Hi all,

Re: YOU plan Joshua's 2015-2016 campaign
HE NEEDS ROUNDS!!!!!
Are you listening Mr Hearn?
Once Povetkin beats Wilder, AJ will be number one contender and there's a real danger that he could go into that fight..........
1. Never having gone anywhere near the distance.
2. Never been in deep water.
3. Never faced anyone who's hit him hard and clean on the chin.
That is not the right preparation for that fight. He'll get at least two of those three landed on him from nowhere against Povetkin.
When Lennox needed rounds, Frank Maloney brought over Ossie Ocassio. Tyson fought an 'up for it' Quick Tillis. Wlad got Bigfoot Martin.
I repeat..... He needs rounds.
Anyway, my schedule.
Dec. Whyte.
Jan. Zack Page.
March. Adamek.
July. Haye.
September. Thompson
Dec Povetkin, I suppose, but I wouldn't fancy his chances in that one.

I'm thinking he will struggle to get decent opponents because they know they are getting kod

Adamek will get obliterated by AJ. He is brave but at 38 may aswell retire before he gets a one sided beat down again.
PS spot on about the first few points though.

Time to bring in Oliver McCall. No one has stopped that madman. If it`s rounds you want, then bring him in.
Watch would be a sound opponent. he can dig, is a big lump and has a decent beard.

I was trying to think of someone like Page, but fresher, but I'm at work and full of Tramadol. Someone like Zack Page, a good mover, a tricky guy who is hard to hit and will let Joshua chase him for a few rounds. Someone mobile.Naandrew wrote:Zack Page is 42 and by 2016 will have had 1 fight in 2 years.keithmoonhangover wrote:HE NEEDS ROUNDS!!!!!

Re: YOU plan Joshua's 2015-2016 campaign
For me if Teper fights and beats Delboy by the end of the year then Teper should be after Whyte. If Del beats him no chance he will fight AJ due to FW.
If Wach goes the distance with Povetkin in November he is an absolute must for AJ 2016 before a world title fight.
Tyson Fury can't be ruled out but depends on the Wlad fight. If he gets smashed in 3 rounds he may not even fight again, if he loses close on points it has to happen and of course if he does the business then may as well strike when the iron is hot.
I wouldn't mind Browne v Chageav winner but that will be for the paper WBA title and It would seriously wind me up when and make a mockery of the sport as Sky would constantly call AJ a world champion when he wont be.
Stiverne would be a good opponent but would be hard to make due to his links to the Don King.
Jennings is ideal but I feel he will be one who will demand some serious £££ to take the fight.
Hearn has mentioned Eric Molina in a couple of interviews which I would not be surprised at. AJ will blast him out in a couple as well so I am not in favour of that.

Why does AJ need distance fights? Cant he just keep knocking folk out in a round or 2?

Because every world champion ever has gone the distance at some point in their career. It's better to find out how he handles the distance before he steps in the ring with one of the two best heavyweights in the world.mimmy123 wrote:Why does AJ need distance fights? Re: YOU plan Joshua's 2015-2016 campaign
Assuming he keeps winning of course -
Whyte
Chisora
Teper
Wach
Fury
Then aim for Wlad late 16, early 17.
I'm confident that all of them ( bar perhaps Del Boy, could end up a round 1 blast out ) give AJ plenty of rounds at the very least. Fair bit of bother too, again, something he needs.

Re: YOU plan Joshua's 2015-2016 campaign
He needs to go 10 or 12 rounds for the mental thing, not just the physical thing.
What happens if it comes across someone who doesn't fall over? It's ok sparring "hard rounds" but few people spar 12 rounds so he doesn't know until he does it.
Plus, he needs to have a plan b.

Re: YOU plan Joshua's 2015-2016 campaign
How about Eddie Chambers, he's been out in the wilderness for a while but if he is still 80% of the fighter he was a few years ago he could be pesky enough and tough enough to extend AJ. Jennings would be a better similar option but i think Eddie would be much easier to make a deal with.keithmoonhangover wrote: I was trying to think of someone like Page, but fresher, but I'm at work and full of Tramadol. I think Wach is a must & soon due to his size power and especially that iron chin. I remember Wlad teeing off on him, trying to do what he ended up doing to Pulev but having to settle for a decision. Solis has the skills even though he has no ambition or discipline. His manager said he had had enough of him after his last non-effort and announced he'd be thrown to the wolves. So he could be a good candidate but i wouldn't trust him not to quit on his stool after a couple of rounds.
Then Pulev net year, maybe as an eliminator.

Re: YOU plan Joshua's 2015-2016 campaign
How does he get rounds in if he keeps knocking people out in one or 2 rounds? Those guys who everyone keeps saying will give him rounds fall inside 2 rounds. What if those people arent there? He cant risk carrying opponents can he? I dont see the issue about rounds as hes not needing them as there is no one there to push him. He could face Tyson Fury and people will say he'll take him 5,6 ,7 or 10 but again AJ might dispatch him in 2. As long as he's putting rounds in the gym and in training thats all he can do.

Yup AJ needs to face skilled boxers eg Haye and Chambers there is no point putting big lumps in front of him he's too fast.
