How does Boxrec ratings work?

Andy Townend was on 47 points before his KO win last week live on sky Sports following day his points went to 55 and moved to no6 in the rankings now he's moved to No9 with only 39 points. How can he lose points after a KO win I'm baffled??

I think it was probably an opposition penalty. I believe that a boxer loses points if in the last 18 months they haven't fought an opponent with at least half their points at the time, and the last time Townsend fought someone who met that standard was 18 months ago as of September 8th, so it lines up with the recent drop.

It's stupid if you ask me Jason Cunningham also boxed on same bill won every round against a kid who lost 1 in 8/9 fights n never got a point for it

Because Cunningham had 89 points going into the fight and the other lad had 8. His record looked good on paper but he'd been beating nobodies in Nicaragua so he didn't pick up many ranking points for his wins.
