Re: Dillian Whyte
Joshua's taller, fitter, faster and sharper, and I expect him to take Whyte apart in a few rounds. But Whyte's naturally bigger, has more power, and his chin seems pretty decent. I think there's a good chance of Whyte having enough durability to land one or two heavy shots, and if Joshua really is too chinny to be a lasting world champ, that'll be the end of his world-title surge for now.
But if Whyte's able to land meaningful punches and Joshua doesn't crumble, he'll be a proven contender overnight. It's a Lewis-Mason crossroads for both. Really looking forward to it. (I also prefer Whyte, but Joshua has better prospects at this point.)

He did not.make excuses and a wins a win and he s now got.his shot against aj
DW belief in himself is immense and he s honest I honestly don t think he's worried about aj and he will. Back up his words.
Only criticism of dw last night needs to tighten up defence.
Dillian has absolutely no reason to be scared!
Joshua has certainly developed as a fighter and packed on a scary amount of muscle mass ... But as the old adage goes, you can't put muscles on the chin - and both parties will know An: be very aware of this .
I say it's a 50/50.
I would allow their first fight to influence me in anyway, they were raw novices

Would have been nice to see Whyte in there with somebody a similar size and length to Joshua...

Wow that was a couple of hellacious left hooks he took, but he recovered well.
I think his chin looks pretty sound to be honest
Re: Dillian Whyte
Whyte looked like absolute crap on Saturday night but I agree with others who suggested he knew he could walk through Minto and pay little attention to tactics. I'm sure there will be much more of a gameplan against AJ and I wouldn't rule out Whyte after Saturday, despite the visual of him coming out flabby titted and looking poor compared to the Adonis-bodied AJ impressively wiping out Cornish.
My hunch is that Whyte is one of those slightly overweight heavies who can take a punch and do a loads of rounds, we've seen guys like that loads of times. When was the last time we saw an in shape heavyweight who could take a punch and compete to the end in a tough stamina sapping fight? Wlad, Price, Bruno, Wilder.....

10/1 Whyte with Bet365, thought that might interest some posters
Re: Dillian Whyte
For me if they fought 10 times Whyte would get stopped every time, the bet doesn't hold any value.

Personally I agree with you but with some in the thread fancying Whyte I thought it might be of interest.Coco wrote:For me if they fought 10 times Whyte would get stopped every time, the bet doesn't hold any value.
Re: Dillian Whyte
I don't pick Whyte to win but I think he will give it a go and seems to have the the power to hurt anybody he lands cleanly on. 10/1 is decent value to me and I doubt it will last.GlobalBox wrote:10/1 Whyte with Bet365, thought that might interest some posters

Re: Dillian Whyte
I like Whyte and I rate him. I think he can reach European level in his career, which is a great achievement for a British fighter.
Joshua I feel is going to be a world champion and a fighter that becomes successful in and out of the ring.
It's a great fight that makes sense for both. I think Joshua wins in 4 due to the fact I think he's a couple of levels above Whyte.

Re: Dillian Whyte
I think we are all being a bit premature in our predictions about Joshua. He needs rounds and so far he hasn't had many. Whyte should test him before Joshua stops him, and we may then have a better idea of how good Joshua is in the pro ranks. Both men have a good future in HW boxing for sure but how far they can go is still uncertain. Joshua seems the better of the two but only time will tell. A few years ago many were saying Price would go all the way but now we know he is European at best. Many believe the hype and sh1t talk of Fury when he talks about KOing Klitscho but I cant see it happening. Fury IMO will be another Chisora, another challenger that didn't quite make it. I wish Joshua and Whyte well and lets hope at least one of them wins a World title but they both need some tough tests and a lot more rounds before that happens.

Yeah, he reminds me a bit of mid-career Danny Williams.johnswan1 wrote:My hunch is that Whyte is one of those slightly overweight heavies who can take a punch and do a loads of rounds

You are damn right he needs rounds thorough, and this lack of experience could ultimately be very damaging.

Re: Dillian Whyte
Hmmm that's potentially a great comparison. However I don't understand anyone criticising the Whyte-Joshua fight. At least we have AJ taking on an ambitious prospect who can punch.Grilling Machine wrote:Yeah, he reminds me a bit of mid-career Danny Williams.johnswan1 wrote:My hunch is that Whyte is one of those slightly overweight heavies who can take a punch and do a loads of rounds
Re: Dillian Whyte
Its a reasonable fight at this stage of his development, in fairness he has been matched pretty well, it's just he keeps knocking them all out damn early!

Re: Dillian Whyte
True. But apart from Cornish, who can be described as very ordinary, everyone he's fought has been over the hill.Coco wrote:Its a reasonable fight at this stage of his development, in fairness he has been matched pretty well, it's just he keeps knocking them all out damn early!
Whyte brings a lot more than any of his other opposition. Undefeated, young, can punch and from reports has a sound chin. You can't say that about any other AJ opponent. He might get away Whyte early, as AJ is extremely dangerous and powerful. But Whyte may answer the chin question. And a Whyte win is not totally out of the question, though not likely, unlike everyone Joshua has fought to date.
Re: Dillian Whyte
If you compare his opponents to Lennox Lewis at the same stage it's similar enough. Obv nobody is looking to get him beat when he learns! Many of those over the hill guys have reputations for sticking around, but AJ has done real well.

Re: Dillian Whyte
Seen Whytes last 5 fights and he looks powerful and solid but can he handle AJ quickness and power and can AJ handle Whytes power? I seriously think that this is why it makes this fight so Intresting.
Re: Dillian Whyte
I know its an unpopular opinion but I think Whyte should have passed on this fight for now, if he has as good a chin as many say he has he could take a serous beating as AJ doesn't seem to have a one punch ko but more of a concussive punch. Its not like DeGale-Groves where they both moved on with no problems this is the heavyweights where serious damage can be done. Whyte has only recently started training with Banks and still looks raw to me, he should spend a year going from domestic to Europeans class guys then step up to fringe world level at the end of next year, AJ on the other hand looks a class above him to me, this fight would be better in a year for Whyte.
Just a random thought but does anyone think Hearn has put a rematch clause in Whyte's contract or he must sign for Matchroom if he wins? Even though Hearn thinks there's no chance AJ will lose...

Re: Dillian Whyte
During the O2 fight I noticed that Whyte was again referred to as "the Villain", a nickname that Whyte has said he wants to abandon as he was given to him as a youngster because it rhymes more than the fact he is/was a [petty] criminal. He has said on IFLTV that he has now specifically chosen "Bodysnatcher" as a way to appear more positive to young fans (Kuggan C already pointed out the humour in that one). Interestingly in an IFLTV interview one of DW's digs at Joshua was that Joshua was a drug dealer.
Just think it's interesting from a narrative point of view that it seems that Matchroom are (perhaps) trying to paint Whyte as the "bad" one and Anthony Joshua as the golden boy?
I wonder how much actual control the fighters have over their nicknames? I'm guessing it's part of their brand and if Whyte is being announced with one he's moved away from it must be annoying for him.
Quite looking forward to this one. Thankfully it's not a PPV! Expecting AJ to win on shown form, but hope Whyte aquits himself well and can use the fight as a real springboard. Whyte appears both likeable and game.

Joshua looks plenty tough, those were massive shots. What's happened to Nistor? What a handful!

Yeah I saw him say something to the MC when he said it after the fight the MC used Bodysnatcher. Personally I like villain but it's up to Dillian.cmdenny wrote:During the O2 fight I noticed that Whyte was again referred to as "the Villain", a nickname that Whyte has said he wants to abandon as he was given to him as a youngster because it rhymes more than the fact he is/was a [petty] criminal. Re: Dillian Whyte
Whyte said on Saturday that he understood he was being portrayed as the heel and he was OK with it, its marketing or really and has little correlation with reality. There will be thousands there in December - AJ is a big draw already.
