Roy Jones Jr now a Russian citizen
Re: Roy Jones Jr now a Russian citizen
I'm not sure what to think about this if. It might be one way to thaw the cold relations with Putin and the US.
Re: Roy Jones Jr now a Russian citizen
...nothing wrong with that, RJJ's been enjoying a lot of popularity in Russia, probably more than in his own country...

The Crimea voted overwhelmingly to go back to being part of Russia, which it was part of for hundreds of years.verballistic wrote:Unfortunately, it will do nothing to thaw Russia-US relations (or Russia-NATO relations).JMac wrote:I'm not sure what to think about this if. Putin is just using Roy as a political pawn on the geopolitical chessboard and Jones doesnt have enough political savvy to realize that Putin is playing him like a video game.
He's got Jones actually building a boxing gym in Crimea, which was the part of Ukraine that Russia invaded and took over from Ukraine. Too bad Roy doesnt have someone on his team to let him know he's been played for a sucker!!
That's the thing about democracy and peoples wishes....you can't disregard it when it doesn't go according to your opinion.
I'd suggest reading a bit more widely, and not engorging yourself on what certain avenues manipulate.

Re: Roy Jones Jr now a Russian citizen
Denis Lebedev hit him so hard, Roy Jones wants a new identity
Re: Roy Jones Jr now a Russian citizen
Roy thinks he can learn to speak Russian in a year and earn 2-3 billion dollars building boxing schools and develop his rap career. Maybe he got too many times.

Roy's gonna probably eat a lot of borscht in Russia.

"Long before the vote was ever held, Russia invaded and illegally annexed Crimea. When the United Nations voted on the matter, 100 countries called Russia's annexation of Crimea illegal and only 11 Russian allies recognized the annexation as legit. Putin's annexation of Crimea was very similar to Hitler's claim on Sudetenlan"...

...I certainly want to know more about it provided this thread is moved to misc. section of the forum...still wonder if that happened after or before the USA supported military conflict on the side of the armed opposition in Ukraine leading to coup d'etat? Was there any UN vote? If there was one, I'm not aware of it...

Roy is also training Fedor Chudinov for his September 26th fight in England.
Re: Roy Jones Jr now a Russian citizen

Re: Roy Jones Jr now a Russian citizen
This may have something to do with taxes, which I think are generally lower there.

Re: Roy Jones Jr now a Russian citizen
It's inconvenient to a mouth breather like verbalistic to mention the fact that the US pawprints were all over the illegal coup. Who can forget Pyatt and Nulands machinations, and the little ogre McCain egging on the violence.greg wrote:"Long before the vote was ever held, Russia invaded and illegally annexed Crimea. You'll no doubt also have noted I called it earlier that he should read a bit more widely from non-partisan sources. His response? Quotes from USA Today and the NY Post.
Also conveniently omitted was a reference to the two legal attempts of Crimea to distance themselves from Ukraine in the early 90's, only to be met with threats, including one from a serving Ukrainian politician to "depopulate" Crimea if they persisted. That sort of thing seems right up Verbalistics street, seeing as he seems fixated on Hitler going by the amount of times he mentions him in his posts. Come to think of it, in addition to bizarre references to Hitler, he is the only one who also mentioned Putin.
It's hilarious to see his butthurt that RJ jnr has dared to take out citizenship of Russia. I very much doubt RJ jnr cares about verbalistics butthurt, if he was even aware of his existence.
Much the same as the people of Crimea who probably couldn't give a rats bottom about some poster from thousands of km's away on their final achievement of reintegrating with Russia after Kruschevs unilateral (and illegal one might add) debacle of appending it to Ukraine in 1954.
They're not interested in being part of Ukraine, and never have been.
I'm not sure why some people get so worked up about these things, but I suspect that their feelings are easily manipulated by narrow and limited media channels they seeks to view the world through.
If RJ jnr wants to take out citizenship of another country, then so be it. It is a choice he is allowed to make. And as others here have mentioned, he might have solid and good reasons for doing so.
It's bizarre that some seem threatened or angry about it.

Re: Roy Jones Jr now a Russian citizen
What the hell is Roy up to? I guess we'll find out soon enough.
Re: Roy Jones Jr now a Russian citizen
Jeff Monson just asked for Russian citizenship too.
Re: Roy Jones Jr now a Russian citizen
Maybe Putin is paying big money to become Russian citizen. I could use some extra money and can say a few Russki words. Maybe I'll give Vlad a call.ikorolev wrote:Jeff Monson just asked for Russian citizenship too.
