I see no reason why Cornish can't go back to the fights he was having before. Build the record some more and perhaps look at another title shot once the bigger names have moved on to other things

Eventually try and go for Commonwealth again, or British, not all opponents for these titles are going to be beasts like AJ.

He's one of those that are at British level, like many before him. That's not to be sniffed at.
The issue with British level heavyweights stepping up is that they get stopped or knocked out, often early rather than lose on points or a later 'more respectable/brave' stoppage that you see with the lighter weights.
There are plenty of good contests out there for him. Someone already mentioned a Celtic contest between him and Darren Morgan. (Dorian Darch can't commit to training for a 10/12 rounder as he has a very well paid day job and the figures just don't add up). That would do tickets in Scotland or down in Wales and would be an attractive Eurosport Friday night fight.
Then there is Sexton, Whyte, Price, Hughie Fury, Lewison etc. (Cannot see Whyte beating AJ, so where does he go next?)
I'd much prefer to see this level of heavyweight taking part in more meaningful bouts with British rivals than these often meaningless WBC European/Silver/European belts that whilst providing a place in the top 10/15/20 of governing bodies actually mean very little.
I'm not knocking any of these guys for trying to get a ranking, which may lead to a huge payday. However, it's far more interesting for us to watch them in good old fashioned British titles/eliminators etc.

i'd love to see FW get a grip of the lower level British HWs. Matchroom has Tyson, Joshua, Whyte and Haye seemingly tied up.
That leaves Chisora, Price, Hughie Fury, Cornish, Sexton, Sprott, Towers, Rogan and Turner on the British & Irish scene.
Add on top some Oceania fighters like Parker, Browne, Meehan, and Leipai.
There are some fun English, British and Commonwealth Title press conferences, build ups and fights to be made between English speaking HWs.
At the end of the day everybody loves to see a HW slugfest...

Unfortunately he is never going to be British title level, so I cant see a promoter bankrolling another 10 fights against below par opposition - what is the point ? as soon as he steps up again he will get smashed.

No the point is promoters and fighters need to get hold of some domestic level heavies and get them in the ring against each other in meaningful fights that should be popular and lucrative. The problem now is too many domestic level fighters are inactive or unwilling to get involved in 50/50 contests.
