Our Very Own Bad Boy

Post by diddy »

Galen Brown is fighting tonight. Against Eddie Chambers in AC.

Galen is a minuscule 125-1 underdog. Best of luck to him.

In round 1 Chambers connected lots of flush shots ... mainly the left hook and also combos when Galen stayed in the corner and Chambers let his hands go. Galen made LOTS of cocky moves, he talked to chambers, showed his tongue... Galen loves his job because he smiled all along lol

I think He might be trying to get Chambers out of his gameplan of not taking risks... he is pissing off Chambers who loads up a little more which gives Galen counter opportunities...

Galen even hit Chambers from the break with a tiny jab just to taunt him lol

With 30 seconds left in round 2, Chambers dropped Galen after pressuring him in the ropes and landing a combo with a big right behind the head of Galen who was facing down holding the ropes. Chambers then resumed with some flush shots but Galen survived the 2nd round. Galen still smiling but i think this round will make him respect Chambers a little more

No disrespect to Galen but Eddie is getting up there in years and needs to get back in the ring fighting meaningful fights.

All the respect in the world for Galen. I'm honored that he posts with us.

But, boxing fans would rather have seen Kauffman vs Chambers and Brown vs Mendoza. Matchmakers don't want to take risks, but the fighters take risks all the time.

I don't blame Brown one bit for taking the fight with Chambers. I'm sure he got more $$ against Chambers than he would have gotten against Mendoza.

I blame the matchmakers, not the fighters.

I agree a 100% me and Mendoza would have been a good match up but Travis and Eddie wouldn't fight each other because the money wouldn't be there for either to take a risk but that would have been a great matchup also, I have fun doing what I do but wouldn't mind fighting another journeyman every once in a while but with all that said I live to fight another day

Galen, why aren't you able to land more fights against journeymen or lower level fighters? Obviously a guy with your experience would command a bigger purse than most, but surely there are cards that you could still be slotted in to. Do you promote any of the events in Missouri you fight on?

I fight locally when they have a show usually for John Carden but haven't been able to lately I did a lot in the beginning of my career for a lot of different promoters but as I got more fights promoters stopped wanting to pay the bigger money that guys would want to fight me so I took to fighting on the road a lot probably to much but I love what I do. I sell a lot of tickets locally and love fighting for my friends and family but there isn't any other local ticket sellers so the promoters will lose money so they don't do very many shows around here, which I understand. I am on a 60 day suspension so gonna try to get in some good work sparring and actually stay local for a while. With that being said I have 3 kids and a wife so if there is enough money I will fight on road again, if not I am gonna try to turn things around and fight in Midwest for a while. So we will see what the future holds for me thanks again for the support
