Very interesting article.
Also very honest, you rarely read something so honest - especially as Fitzpatrick seemed to be coming across as genuine and not a prick kicking Groves whilst he was down or blaming others for the defeat etc.
Reading between the lines it doesn't sound that the camp was a happy one for the trainer.

McGuigan will see the pound note first.freddydoesdallas wrote:I'm not sure they would be particularly keen on taking him on. Frampton is on the verge of something big and by the sounds of it, Groves would be a big distractionYes We Can wrote:Anybody see George looking towards the Mcguigans?
I know Shane has Frampton as his only world level/proven star, but i think the camp there and the mentallity are perhaps the closest he will get t the Hayemaker set up.
big risk for sure but it is one worth considering.

If that's the case, why didn't he take the big purse on offer against Quigg?Coco wrote:McGuigan will see the pound note first.freddydoesdallas wrote:I'm not sure they would be particularly keen on taking him on. Because that'd be the last big payday for Frampton? Let's not forget Barry earned big money while avoiding the best fighter in the division.

But if he's chasing the pound note then surely he would take it anywaypalooka wrote:Because that'd be the last big payday for Frampton? Let's not forget Barry earned big money while avoiding the best fighter in the division.
Re: Fitzpatrick lifts the lid on Groves defeat aftermath
He can earn decent money boxing men not at his level or slightly over the hill, hell earn from his title and then cash out big, its the way its done - if he lost to a 'no hoper' he can claim weight making/illness/injury and still get Quigg and the big payday.freddydoesdallas wrote:But if he's chasing the pound note then surely he would take it anywaypalooka wrote:Because that'd be the last big payday for Frampton? Bit foolish, been retired for donkeys, and Groves is much bigger than him - I'd advise against it personally.

Because he wanted half the promotions money as well as his 35% of Quiggs moneyfreddydoesdallas wrote:If that's the case, why didn't he take the big purse on offer against Quigg?Coco wrote:McGuigan will see the pound note first.Yes We Can wrote:Anybody see George looking towards the Mcguigans?

I dunno, Groves is fragile & lacks stamina, Barry could take him into deep waters late onjamesmcdonnell wrote:Bit foolish, been retired for donkeys, and Groves is much bigger than him - I'd advise against it personally.
