i have now heard from TWO different sources that carmine vingo was along the lines of 210-220lb vs marciano and not 189lb like it states.
there is one picture of vingo, hes 6'4 and looks kinda husky and probably over 200lbs.
Reg Gutteridge stating "Carmine Vingo, a young New Yorker of twenty years old who towered over Rocky and outweighed him by as much as thirty five pounds..."
this isnt the other source but i guess i found a 3rd source in marcianos book stating he weighed dead-on 220lbs.
Important Carmine Vingo Question

Re: Important Carmine Vingo Question
All of his weights for his 18 fights are between 185 and 197. There is no reason to think he weighed 13 to 23 lbs heavier for his fight against Marciano than in every other one of his fights. His previous fight was the month before and he was only 193. 189 sounds like a correct weight.BrocktonBlockbuster49 wrote:i have now heard from TWO different sources that carmine vingo was along the lines of 210-220lb vs marciano and not 189lb like it states.

thanx,
i also read vingo came into marciano fight at 27-3, not the 16-1 listed. but perhaps you havnt recovered all of his fights yet??? is there a chance he was 27-3 like it stated??
also bobby quinn was said to have come in at 15-1(14kos) when he fought rocky, not the 8-0 like it has on box rec, but im sure ur still lookig for his fights too.

From the 1949-12-30 United Press preview of the Marciano v. Vingo fight:
...Rocky Marciano, unbeaten Brockton Mass., heavyweight with 25 straight victories, faces Carmine (Bingo) Vingo of New York in the semi-final ten. Marciano has knocked out 23 of 25 opponents but he's meeting a rugged slugger in Vingo, who has won 16 of 17 starts....
