Doesn't seem like Bute has done much to deserve this payday, but whatever.

Degale wins fairly comfortably. Probably by stoppage.

Bute's 9 defenses of the IBF title is what's getting him this title shot and his name/fanbase are getting him this 1.5m payday. :box:

Hmmm, I've not seen much of Bute since the Froch fight, so not sure how bad he looked coming back, but surely DeGale shouldn't be a huge favourite going in?

His confidence, seems shot. He may be shot altogether. I really hope they price it close. I don't see how Bute wins.

Riddick Blowe is spot on; Bute's confidence is in the gutter.

I can't see what he has done to deserve this shot or how he has any chance of winning.

Bute spent so much of his career protected that when he was finally released into the wild to mix with the 'big' boys, he didn't have a clue what to do.

His one saving grace is that Degale is not as aggressive, relentless & powerful as Froch was, but I don't think that will matter: Degale all the way for me.

In retrospect I'm surprised he beat Sakio Bika. That guy on paper should have been a banana skin for a guy as frail as Bute turned out to be.

I though Bute was fighting at LHW now. He always seemed very big at SMW. Checking his record the last time he made 168 was against Froch over 3 years ago but he has been within a couple of pounds since so it must still be possible.
Maybe now Froch has retired he will be good enough to return Bute's testicles then we might have an interesting/competitive fight.

He also needs to cut 7 additional pounds ...

Showcase for Degale.
Wonder if a unification with Abraham is on the cards?

Looking forward to this. Hope De Gale can have a lengthy reign.

I can see this being a bit of a snoozefest though.

x2. I like Degale and think he will be another Brit 'sleeper' star like Froch, who will have to fight a lot under the radar until he earns his stripes the hard way. But I think this has Degale UD written all over it.

DeGale should win this but if he snoozes the way he did v Dirrell in the middle rounds he will be at high risk of getting the short end of a close decision.

It would be a good fight if it was Bute pre Froch... but now... Bute will show that low work rate... De Gale will use the Froch gameplan and pay him no respect... Should be over relatively quick... Because Bute has a chin in that he doesn't get KTFO... but he gets hurt and reacts badly... That;s something you can;t train or improve... DeGale will hurt him due to his aggressivity... Bute will get in the ropes hurt and DeGale will flurry till it's stopped

To use the Froch plan against Bute, one needs to have Carl's chin or things could go sour.

Since getting knocked out by Froch, he robbed Denis Grachev, lost straight-up to Jean Pascal, and hasn't legitimately beaten a divisional top 50 fighter since 2011. I'm pretty sure that Bute would be a clear underdog to any divisional top 5 fighter right now.

To use the Froch plan against Bute, one needs to have Carl's chin or things could go sour.

took a few seconds vs a confident fighter like Froch to hurt Bute and take his legs out... Bute started swinging wild after that in survival mode and never recuperated... De Gale can just rush this done version of bute, quickly hurt him and flurry for the quick TKO

i have watched almost all of his fights live... (i am a fan) this type of puncher without confidence is worthless. Bute knows he is done... that's why Larouche dropped him. He reacts badly when hurt... can't correct this. He has married, is living like a star posing for local magazines... He is done... Showed it in all his fights since Froch

A Gun shy not confident puncher with an easy blue print out to beat him is not a dangerous fighter for De Gale imo
