Lucas Browne says he'd fight David Haye after he gets Chagaev out of the way

I hope Lucas Browne isn't getting too far ahead of himself. He really should be firmly focused on fighting the winner of Chagaev vs Oquendo, yet he has been heard recently calling out all and sundry, including Wilder, and now David Haye.

Lucas Browne says he would be willing to face the returning David Haye once his world title fight with Ruslan Chagaev is done and dusted.

Upcoming opponent Chagaev has a rematch defense against Fres Oquendo to deal with on October 17 before Browne is stipulated to be given his chance within 90 days.

Browne should conceivably be sharing the ring with the winner of Chagaev v Oquendo by the end of January, and if successful in becoming one of the top players in the division, could give Haye an opportunity provided the Briton earns a sufficient ranking.

“I think if David Haye does make a comeback it would be good for boxing,” Browne exclusively told World Boxing News.

“If he gets in the ring like he says he will then I'd love to fight him. I’m not sure if he is the same boxer as when he won a world championship, but it would be interesting to find out for sure and see if he can still compete at the top level.

“Obviously the fight can’t happen right now as Ricky Hatton (promoter) won’t chance it with my world title shot, but hopefully I've got another warm up fight in November after I get over my broken thumb and then I’ll fight for the world title.”

Good luck to Lucas and you have to admire his desire to fight tough fighters but Haye unless he has faded badly would embarrass Lucas IMO.
