Juan Manual Marquez takes his ball and goes home...

Post by caldo2025 »

JMM will not give Manny a rematch because he wants the knockout to be the lasting memory in fans minds when it comes to their epic battles. This tells me all that I need to about JMM and Manny respectively. Manny could have taken his 2 victories and forced JMM to eat crow for the rest of his life but instead, he gave JMM multiple shots to redeem himself. JMM, rumored to be juiced up for the last fight and by the looks of his physique along with having a known steroid peddler in his camp, these things didn't help dispel those rumors at all. Instead of having one last rubber match to complete the series and determine the real victor, he's going to put the KO in his back pocket and hide like the punk he is.

I personally don't even want to see them fight again but the fact that JMM is declining to fight Manny because he wants to hold onto that knockout like it's his little baby just makes me dislike this cheat even more. In my mind, Manny is the winner of the war. JMM won one battle but Manny's still on the battlefield asking for more. Hopefully, that's how most will remember things

Yeah, what a terrible person, not wanting to fight on until he was 65 so Manny could finally get the decisive victory he's never been able to achieve, won't someone think of the children etc etc.

One of the last times boxing truly made me jump on my feet and cheer. Marquez was robbed in three, he finally made the fights finish decisively and you still want a rematch?

Also, if JMM was roided up I only see it as levelling the playing field with Manny. With there being no concrete evidence against either I reserve any judgment on it personally, but to have a go at JMM for rumours is laughable given the rumours surrounding Manny.

It also answered the age old question, how many Mexicans does it take to knock Manny out?

According to some fans logic fighters can never retire and other fighters are somehow locked into a never ending cycle of rematches.

Big difference champ.

Manny gave Marquez a rematch cuz both his wins were controversial.

Marquez win on the other hand was as decisive as you can get.

Jmm is an old man in boxing years but with that said i gaurantee if jmm was Mannys age he would go for a 5th 6 7th fight.

If JMM won the first decision then we would even see a second fight. He juiced up as much as he could for the last fight and went for his white whale. That's all that happened.

I think the big problem was money.

There was a window there where a fifth fight could have been made. Probably not there now.

What it would have took is Arum and Manny giving JMM a 50/50 split or something close to it.

And, in all fairness, Marquez deserved it.

You have the first 2 fights which could have gone either way, a 3rd fight everyone except 3 judges thought JMM won,
and a 4 fight with a result as decisive as you can get.

Legacy-wise, it was Manny that needed the rematch more and he should have had no problem paying for it.

As far as this idea that Manny willingly gave rematches to JMM, nothing could be further from the truth.

Manny never wanted a 3rd of 4th fight, saying "that business is finished" after his win in the second fight.

He's a legendary fighter, he can't "take the ball and go home" at this point. He's accomplished more than 99.999% of fighters ever will.

This reminds me of a post after Kovalev beat Hopkins, claiming he had been "exposed". You can't be "exposed" at 49, just like you can't "take the ball and go home" after two decades of an incredible career.

Not everyone has to go the Toney route and fight until they can barely speak anymore, you know. When you've achieved an incredible amount, it might behoove you to know it's time to gracefully leave (or in Marquez' case, basically stay gone).

I don't blame Marquez. He should probably retire. He couldn't finish the job vs Alvarado. Infact i'm sure got put on his ass himself. He's old and well out his weight territory. Him and Pac had 4 legendary wars. What good would it even do Pac if he were to win fight 5 vs a pretty much retired JMM??

Good point. I honestly didn't realize JMM was 42 years old. I know he was up there but yeah, 42 is ancient in boxing and Pac has nothing to gain by beating him down at this age. Wow, 42. He knocked out Pacman when he was 39. LOL. No way he was clean for that fight. No shot.

How many years has it been? It still hurts you as if The Planquiao had been administered an hour ago, doesn't it caldo2025 and Ricky_?

You can make baseless accusations. You can call JMM every name in the book. But, none of it will erase The Planquiao from your memory banks. You get to live with it for the rest of your lives.

Enjoy.

Baseless? LOL. You're funny Trannyzio. You're lucky I'm tired of Floid Roid talk because I'd list the evidence. There's only 1 way a 39 year old guy can compete with a world class level athlete so don't be stupid and naïve. I realize a request like that is like asking you to stop breathing.

That's all you have caldo2025, are personal insults. I know those nightmares about The Planquiao are tough on you, especially when you wake up in a pool of sweat and realize once more that it isn't just a dream and it will never go away.

JMM is possibly my all time favourite fighter behind Ali and Hagler. Feel free to find where I've called him a cheat. Never the less, i can't condone any fighter working with Memo Heredia.

Then I apologize for lumping you with Mr. "Cotto is the most overrated boxer in history."

Contrary to popular belief, Heredia is not the only chemist involved in sports.
