Roach changed his song
Roach changed his song
He is now saying that Golovkin is #1 in the sport:

Not his fighters, Manny or Miguel, but Gennady.
What changed his mind ? Is he expecting Cotto to beat Canelo and then agree to fight GGG, so he starts selling GGG as the best ?

Has Freddie got an agenda? Or is he just saying what many of us think is the case anyway? Perhaps it just took him longer to be convinced?ikorolev wrote:He is now saying that Golovkin is #1 in the sport:

Re: Roach changed his song
i think Roach does have an agenda in saying that GGG is in the #1 sport now. Roach knows that there's NO WAY Cotto signs on to fight GGG. No matter what happens in his fight vs Canelo. Maybe he's trying to play a little game with Cotto's head in saying these things. Cotto looks up to Roach like a Father and wants to impress him so badly that maybe he now takes that challenge.
Or, Roach could just be telling it like is. GGG is the P4P king of the sport right now and it's not even close.

Gennady lives in LA now and has a HUGE following there, Roach def has an agenda, sounds like he is trying to recruit him, Abel needs to watch out.

A huge following, professor?
Maybe among the Russians who are coming to my city in record numbers to open shoddy dental offices, but the rest of L.A. doesn't know Golovkin from borscht.
Why are we constantly bombarded with this amusing propaganda declaring Golovkin as some sort of ATG and the best in the sport? If the middleweight division had any talent, (this is a division where an aging 154 pounder, who won't fight anyone at 160, rules the roost) Golovkin would be just another brawler waiting for his waterloo.
He's another Hamsho without the muscles.

Roach does in fact want Cotto to fight GGG:

I think Freddie is losing his mind.

Re: Roach changed his song
It raises the question of just how many fighters can Freddie train at the one time and provide them all with the time and input they need? Surely there is a saturation point?pugilisticprofessor wrote:Gennady lives in LA now and has a HUGE following there, Roach def has an agenda, sounds like he is trying to recruit him, Abel needs to watch out.
Re: Roach changed his song
Maybe he just thinks he's the best now, who knows. I mean, I know Roach is known for talking a lot in a mind game kind of way, but he might just be stating what he thinks.
Re: Roach changed his song
He is also saying he may ditch Manny if Pac doesn't "show him something" in the next fight. (He feels Manny should have done better his last one)

Is SenorPipino another alt account of the infamous KBB?SenorPipino wrote:A huge following, professor?

No, KBB is an angel compared to Pipi. If allowed, Pipi would send all Russians to concentration camps.

Roach now saying he thinks Golovkin will have no problems beating Lemieux, and that he believes that he can KO Lemieux any time he wants in the fight. Roach going on to say he then wants to see Golovkin face Cotto so that they can fight out which of the two fighters are the best in the world.
