Reports coming out of Argentina are suggesting that Yoan Pablo Hernandez has pulled out of his fight with Victor Emiliano Ramirez, the interim champion and has now been stripped of the title, with Ramirez upgraded to full champion and that Ovill will fight Ramirez on October 2nd in Buenos Aires.

The Cruiserweight division gets a lot of stick and is overlooked but in all honesty its a division with no weak champs and they all hit seriously hard,i'd say Drozd is my no1 but if anyone was to argue for Lebedev/Glowacki/Hernandez then i wouldnt waste too much resources arguing my case

Its a crazy division,always has been and McKenzie KO'n someone to become world champ would be fitting

he could have been Hucks mandatory for the WBO belt but pulled out of the final eliminator with Glowacki to film Creed. Glowacki was installed as mandatory and beat Huck.

Agreed, it's a great division that gets overlooked in the UK and usa. And I don't think bellew beats any of the 4 champs mentioned unless the rumours are true and Hernandez is stripped, then he could probably beat Ramirez.

Im buzzing for this one on friday,i really hope McKenzie can pull off a massive upset,he's a nice guy who has earned everything he has the hard way and going away over to Argentina for his shot hopefully wont faze him,he's never been a ticket seller so that could go for him when he doesnt have any fans over there

He's up against it though Ramirez is a tough SOB and in all honesty a better fighter,they dont call Ovill "The Upsetter" for nothing though,hopefully he can land his bingo punch early doors and catch Ramirez cold,i just feel Victor will be too good though and i imagine McKenzie wont hear the final bell

It would be absolutely great if Ovill wins this, he seems a genuinely good guy and deserves to be much more popular than he is. Hopefully he can pull this off & then set-up a big payday for himself (although admittedly he's not in the best of divisions for big paydays).

Think Steve Robinson had about 8 or 9 if memory serves, Andries had about six before beating Williamson but can't think of any one off the top of my head to beat Ovill's 12, probably bound to be some somewhere.

Was watching Ramirez hurt the other day against Elam only a couple of fights ago, it looked as if he got caught on the ear/side of the head and to be honest he did brilliant to recover but he was all over the shop and there is not a chance in hell that Ovill would have let him off the hook so there is hope there for Ovill and the Argie fans who will no doubt be there usual inviting self won't bother him a bit in fact it might give him something extra.

It will be interesting to see if Ramirez goes for it from the first bell as he has done in many fights, hopefully they wont have done there homework and he walks straight onto one from Ovill.

Come on the "Upsetter" bring it home son.

Realistically he has to stop Ramirez to stand any chance.

We've seen what can happen in Argentina with points decisions before plus the odd moment of pro home fan madness ala Lazarte v Casimero.

Would be a well received victory if Ovil wins but will be very surprising.

Freddie Pendleton had 16 losses on his record when he challenged Pernell Whitaker, Dick Tiger 14 losses when he met Gene Fullmer in San Francisco in Tiger's first title shot ... I'm sure there are many other examples from the 1960s and going back in time. It was only after the 1976 Olympics that preserving the "O" became all-important; I think I'm right in saying that at one time fighters were matched competitively in almost every fight. (Look at all the top-notch fighters Ralph "Tiger" Jones went in with, and he never even got a title opportunity.)
