Hearn wants Joshua vs. Haye in 2016
Hearn wants Joshua vs. Haye in 2016
http://www.boxingnews24.com/2015/09/hea ... e-in-2016/?
Eddie Hearn wants to make a fight between Joshua and Haye in 2016, and believes it would be a huge fight. But Hearn doesn’t know if Haye is serious about wanting to make a comeback or not because he’s been talking about it for the last three years.
“I don’t know. There’s been talk of Haye coming back for a few years, so I hope he does. Does he still have the body, desire and conditioning to compete at the world level? We’ll find out. It’s very difficult to come back after such a long time out. Maybe Haye won’t come back, but it’s always being talked about. It would be David Haye vs. Anthony Joshua next year, but David has got to get back in the ring if that’s what he wants to do. It’s a fight that could be made in 2016. It’s a tough fight for Anthony Joshua. Haye’s a brilliant fighter,” Hearn said.

I guess he wants Joshua to sit on the shelf for a year.Because Haye would pull out and reschedule.

Perhaps Hearn should be saying they want to fight Haye this year, so as to allow for postponements?tiny_acres wrote:I guess he wants Joshua to sit on the shelf for a year.Because Haye would pull out and reschedule.

Re: Hearn wants Joshua vs. Haye in 2016
I look forward to the announcement.
Re: Hearn wants Joshua vs. Haye in 2016
He needs to be very sure that Haye is serious because if he puts his eggs in one basket with him and then we have postponement and pull outs with injuries you could end up with Joshua fighting once next year in what is probably the most important year of his career prior to actually getting a shot.
Pounds signs need to keep out of the picture and make the right fights, let Joshua go on with his career next year and forget Haye until he is back and significant again having been in a camp a couple of times and actually fought a couple of times.

Probably just name dropping to make it look like they're willing to take on dangerous opponents/big names imminently when in reality, there's little chance of this happening.

Re: Hearn wants Joshua vs. Haye in 2016
Eddie Hearn must be living in an alternate reality whereby David Haye actually turns up for fights if he really thinks that a David Haye fight can be made in 2016.
Re: Hearn wants Joshua vs. Haye in 2016
That is exactly it. He knows that Haye is a long way away from coming back, if at all. He will need a couple of fights before he could even consider taking on Joshua, and at that point they may be on a completely different path. Hearn must know that we are all hungry to see Joshua in with someone who can bang back, so he dangles out a little carrot to keep us interested.danamba7 wrote:Probably just name dropping to make it look like they're willing to take on dangerous opponents/big names imminently when in reality, there's little chance of this happening.

Too early to think about putting someone like David Haye in with Anthony Joshua anytime in 2016. Focus should be getting the domestic and Euro belts and make some defences of those belts.

I think Chisora is a more realistic goal for Joshua in early 2016.

Chisora ticks all the boxes he's strong but not a big puncher and has a good chin ,should go a few rounds with AJtiny_acres wrote:I think Chisora is a more realistic goal for Joshua in early 2016.

Joshua ought to just go for the Commonwealth titles that Lucas Browne holds. Browne is rated high and is a world contender now, so the winner of that contest could ultimately face the winner of Wilder/Povetkin or Fury/Klitschko. Browne is also on his last legs after that pitiful performance with Julius Long... so he may have to cash himself out against Joshua who is more than likely the next big thing in boxing.

How is Chisora v AJ ever going to happen whilst Chisora is with Warren?stevedoc wrote:Chisora ticks all the boxes he's strong but not a big puncher and has a good chin ,should go a few rounds with AJtiny_acres wrote:I think Chisora is a more realistic goal for Joshua in early 2016.

As I'm not part of warrens or hearns camp I don't know I'm just saying chisora would be a ideal fight for AJMarkMcBurney wrote:How is Chisora v AJ ever going to happen whilst Chisora is with Warren?stevedoc wrote:Chisora ticks all the boxes he's strong but not a big puncher and has a good chin ,should go a few rounds with AJtiny_acres wrote:I think Chisora is a more realistic goal for Joshua in early 2016.

Bet he can't wait to decide how much he is going to charge for that PPV?

Joshua just KO'd Gary Cornish in a round to win the vacant Commonwealth title,he fights Dillian Whyte for vacant British title in decemberHomicideHenry wrote:Joshua ought to just go for the Commonwealth titles that Lucas Browne holds. How dare you encourage use of facts or common sense on a boxing forumMarkMcBurney wrote:How is Chisora v AJ ever going to happen whilst Chisora is with Warren?stevedoc wrote:Chisora ticks all the boxes he's strong but not a big puncher and has a good chin ,should go a few rounds with AJtiny_acres wrote:I think Chisora is a more realistic goal for Joshua in early 2016.

If Chisora comes in again at nearly 19 stone and looking like sh!t, I suspect Warren will happily let him fight AJ.MarkMcBurney wrote:How is Chisora v AJ ever going to happen whilst Chisora is with Warren?stevedoc wrote:Chisora ticks all the boxes he's strong but not a big puncher and has a good chin ,should go a few rounds with AJtiny_acres wrote:I think Chisora is a more realistic goal for Joshua in early 2016.

So who does Joshua fight between now and then. This fight is awful for joshua without him taking on some actual competition prior.

My apologies being an American I am not familiar with the promotional wars of Britain.MarkMcBurney wrote:How is Chisora v AJ ever going to happen whilst Chisora is with Warren?stevedoc wrote:Chisora ticks all the boxes he's strong but not a big puncher and has a good chin ,should go a few rounds with AJtiny_acres wrote:I think Chisora is a more realistic goal for Joshua in early 2016.
I guess you all have the same problems with inter promotional fights as we do here in the states.
Thanks for informing me of this.
But I do feel that Chisora would of been the perfect next step for Joshua if promotional problems
could be worked out.
Re: Hearn wants Joshua vs. Haye in 2016
Great opponent for Joshua
By next year Haye would have had only 15 minutes of action in the past 5 years. Saying that the "casual" boxing fans fall for all the fake shenanigans and buy any old shite that Hearn puts on PPV so this will no doubt be billed as a 70/30 fight in Hayes favour and the "British fight of the century".
