Khabib Allakhverdiev vs. Adrien Broner
Many people thought Khabib Allakhverdiev deserved to win his last fight against Vargas. In that fight, he was cut by a headbutt that looked to be deliberate, but the ref said nothing to Vargas. Since then, the boxing promoters have been ruining his career by keeping him inactive for 18 months.
Adrien Broner is big for the weight division. He's strong and durable and will be difficult to defeat at 140.
What are your thoughts and predictions for this one?

Re: Khabib Allakhverdiev vs. Adrien Broner
I think this is a very close fight where Allakhverdiev will be hard done by the judges again like the Vargas fight,Broner is supposed to win thus becoming a 4 weight champ, why else would he get a title shot after losing to Porter?
Broner is talented but he's too lazy,1 of his many flaws but his workrate is what hinders him most and Khabib will capatalize but i fear Adrien will get a gift

Re: Khabib Allakhverdiev vs. Adrien Broner
I think Khabib will beat Broner...though there's a very strong chance of robbery here.
Re: Khabib Allakhverdiev vs. Adrien Broner
I think that Broner learned a lot in that 12th round with Porter. He's normally been a boxer that relied upon his speed and scoring combinations to win rounds. But i think that he realizes now that if he sits down on his punches while pressing the action, he can get people out of there. He has serious power that can't be denied after putting Porter down for the first time in his career at a point in the fight where Porter was just trying to finish the fight on his feet. That's tough to do.
No doubt he has to get his work rate up. No idea what he was waiting for in that Porter fight but a well conditioned Broner fighting 3 minutes of every round can beat ANYONE at 140 in the world. No doubt in my mind...i'm not forgetting Matthysee either. I think they will fight eventually and Broner will win that fight.

Broner looks very impressive up to a certain level of fighter.
I expect him to win this on points quite wide.
Personally I'd still like to see him at lightweight, I reckon he could make the weight easy.

I think Broner is good enough to beat Khabib. He's just not good enough to beat Crawford/Mattysse/Peterson or anyone good at 147.

Re: Khabib Allakhverdiev vs. Adrien Broner
I just read that Allakhverdiev is a free agent now, he's no longer with Top Rank.
Khabib wiould be better off signing with PBC/Haymon than re-signing with Bob Arum.
He'll be paid better and he won't get robbed like he did against Vargas. And he won't be ruined by inactivity.

TBF to Broner he's fighting regularly these days, its good to see
Re: Khabib Allakhverdiev vs. Adrien Broner
The Hawk is a VERY good fighter... IMO he could catch Broner with something big.. but that long layoff...
Re: Khabib Allakhverdiev vs. Adrien Broner
was a flash knockdown, landed during a momentary lapse in concentration by porter who was cruising to a landslide points victory. porter got straight back up, unfazed, unhurt, slightly embarrassed ..... who as broner stopped at 140 or 147? there is not a fighter in the world who fights 3 minutes of every round, and broner will never have that mentality. he still thinks he's just gotta turn up to win fights. like khan, he has been overindulged, and allowed to develope too many bad habitscaldo2025 wrote:I think that Broner learned a lot in that 12th round with Porter. Re: Khabib Allakhverdiev vs. Adrien Broner
For a guy touted to be the next Floyd, Broner blew up in weight way too fast and never developed the defensive skills to fight in that back-footed, low workrate style.
Assuming Broner wins this, I'd like to see Broner/Imam. I think that's a fight Imam can win.

As much as I dislike his antics, his fighting style, the preferential treatment he's got all the way along since super-feather (weigh-ins? Pah! No need for them if you're an HBO darling! Also: legally-mandated check weigh-ins? Pah! Let's bung the B-side who's never made any money in his life another five grand to go in there & get shit-kicked, that'll sort it all out), his early-career match-making, his public persona, his crowd of hangers-on & his general air of punchable smugness, I do grudgingly accept the fact that since getting pasted by Maidana he's been thrown in surprisingly deep & often for a protected Haymon fighter.handsofstone wrote:TBF to Broner he's fighting regularly these days, its good to see
I might feel guilty for disliking him so much, but then I remember the rehydration clauses & all that other shite he's still able to pull & it all comes rushing back & I think "Ah, fvck it. Still a pudendum".
I look forward to seeing his career develop; I hope I get to see him beaten up for many years to come.

Re: Khabib Allakhverdiev vs. Adrien Broner
Broner wins a convincing decision.
Obviously the guy has had somewhat of a crisis of confidence stemming from the Maidana fight. Has been reluctant to let his hands go and it cost him against Porter.
But that 12th round knockdown may have been one of those epiphany moments. It was no flash knockdown as one poster claimed. It was a solid hook that shook Porter big time.
It came too late to rescue Broner, but he might just have learned that good things will happen if he moves his hands instead of only waiting and trying to avoid heavy shots.
AB might now have a new aggressive mindset, and if so, it will mean plenty of trouble for Allakhverdiev.
Broner will look like the scourge he was in the 130 and 135 lb. divisions and decisively trounce his foe.
At 140 lbs. Broner is the class of the division if he has his head straight and his confidence restored.

Re: Khabib Allakhverdiev vs. Adrien Broner
Several fighters at 140 would be too much for Broner. Matthysse, Provodnikov, Terrence Crawford, and perhaps even Allakhverdiev. Khabib is a strong counter puncher, and presses forward. He will be waiting for Broner to let his hands go to tag him with counter shots. He's gonna give Broner all that he can handle even if he comes up short...and he's not considered one of the divisions Top 10 as of this moment.SenorPipino wrote:Broner wins a convincing decision.

Re: Khabib Allakhverdiev vs. Adrien Broner
In order for that to happen you're gonna have to arrange for him to have 15 lb on a guy again, & then possibly insist that Broner doesn't need to weigh in at all. As much as I don't like the dog-piling of the boy, the days you fantasise about are long gone & were a product of careful management.SenorPipino wrote: Broner will look like the scourge he was in the 130 and 135 lb. divisions and decisively trounce his foe.

Khabib will prove too mentally strong for Broner.
Re: Khabib Allakhverdiev vs. Adrien Broner
Khabib is a +500 favorite !
Which clearly suggests the Cincy fix is in.
That said I'm still putting $200 on him. Those odds are a JOKE.

Re: Khabib Allakhverdiev vs. Adrien Broner
Decisively?! He couldn't even decisively beat midget Ponce de Leon. And might not even have won at all. Oh yeah and he arguably lost to PAULIE too. Broner is not good.SenorPipino wrote:Broner wins a convincing decision.

broner will win a close robbery
and as alway both guys become winner and move to bigger fights

Re: Khabib Allakhverdiev vs. Adrien Broner
I think "The Problem" realizes he has a huge problem if he doesn't get back to looking like he did as a lightweight.
I predict a spectacular KO by Broner. Watch for him landing the left hook on Khabib.

Broner receiving $1,000,000 for tonight, Khabib is receiving just $50,000 after 18 months of inactivity.
