Hearn wants Joshua vs. Haye in 2016
Re: Hearn wants Joshua vs. Haye in 2016
I'd love to see Joshua knock Haye the hell out.
Re: Hearn wants Joshua vs. Haye in 2016
I am not interested in seeing AJ defend his British and Commonwealth title a few times. I am not interested in seeing him fight Chisora. Whyte is a good fight at this stage, but I want to see him in with top 15 fighters after this. Get him in with someone like Tony Thompson, Chris Arreola, or show up Wilder by taking on Duhaupas.
Re: Hearn wants Joshua vs. Haye in 2016
Whyte then Teper then some serious world level opponents after that.Batley18 wrote:I am not interested in seeing AJ defend his British and Commonwealth title a few times. Re: Hearn wants Joshua vs. Haye in 2016
Does he even need to bother with someone like Teper? He is ranked in the top 15 for all four World belts, top 3 in fact by WBC and WBO. After Whyte I want to see him in an eliminator. People may say it is too early, but is it really? How much is he going to improve in five more fights. AJ is ready to take that large step up and mix it with the big boys.danamba7 wrote:Whyte then Teper then some serious world level opponents after that.Batley18 wrote:I am not interested in seeing AJ defend his British and Commonwealth title a few times. I know what you're saying but I'm sure hes mentioned before that he wants to do the Commonwealth, British, Euro route. Obviously certain opportunities and of course money can change his mind on that but that fight seems like it would be easy enough to make and it would tick that off his list then he can move onto world honours.Batley18 wrote:Does he even need to bother with someone like Teper? I think you are right. I guess it is wrong to want to rush someone, but when they are as good as he is, it is more a case of the public being sick of paying to see him fight bums. I bet the PPV to buy his first World title fight will be £100 plus your soul will belong to Matchroom for all eternity.danamba7 wrote:

Re: Hearn wants Joshua vs. Haye in 2016
It isn't mentioned too much but Anthony Joshua is 25. Very young for a heavyweight.
He doesn't take too much, if any, punishment, largely because the opponents he has faced yet. So as much as I would love to see him go on and fight the highest echelon of world heavyweights, there is really no rush.
He obviously lives the life, so him fighting for another 10 to even 14 or 15 years (using Wlad as an example) isn't out of the question.

What I have seen of Joshua I like..I mean what is not to like?
But I am holding off calling him the next big thing until he faces a real threat.
I have been burned too many times predicting who will be champion

Will Joshua be Hearn's Naz? Does Eddie have a statue of AJ yet and, if so, how long before it's facing the wall?

Re: Hearn wants Joshua vs. Haye in 2016
£100+? Possibly £25/£30, depending on when it happens and who it's against. Neither Klitschko nor Haymon would let Eddie run the show so he best be hoping one of the holders gets beat. Then there is always the chance he gets beat when he finally steps up.Batley18 wrote:I think you are right. Re: Hearn wants Joshua vs. Haye in 2016
Have you seen Arreola fight lately (last three fights--stoppage loss to Stiverne, life and death decision over a clubfighter, draw with someone KTFO'd by Amir Mansour one fight before)? If so why do you include his name but suggest that AJ is already beyond Teper?Batley18 wrote:I am not interested in seeing AJ defend his British and Commonwealth title a few times. Re: Hearn wants Joshua vs. Haye in 2016
After the Whyte fight he needs to move away from the domestic scene, which will only hold him back from that point.
Eddie should look at trying to get the likes of Browne, Mansour, Teper, Dauphaus, hell id even accept Chagaev over. all can teach him something or at least extend his rounds before he wins. You need fights like this before stepping up IMO. The gulf from Cornish to Whyte alone will be huge, no need to jump to far again .

Joshua vs Haye would be a huge event -would get national attention. Sadly, I just can't see Haye getting back in the ring.
Re: Hearn wants Joshua vs. Haye in 2016
I mention Arreola because he fought for a World title three fights ago, and his name carries more weight than Teper in my opinion. Additionally, he is an American, meaning increased visibility out in the States.crusader wrote:Have you seen Arreola fight lately (last three fights--stoppage loss to Stiverne, life and death decision over a clubfighter, draw with someone KTFO'd by Amir Mansour one fight before)? Will Joshua struggle to be allowed to fight in the USA?Batley18 wrote:I mention Arreola because he fought for a World title three fights ago, and his name carries more weight than Teper in my opinion. Re: Hearn wants Joshua vs. Haye in 2016
Haye was always very negative fighting super heavyweights like Joshua. Even Audley he didn't jump on until he thought he could. At his best he took Wladamir the distance. If he managed to get himself back to anywhere near what he was he would at the very least give Joshua rounds. I wonder... What the old Haye have been favorite to bang AJ out at this stage?
It'd probably be massive, wouldn't it? It's a Wembley Stadium job. Joshua is selling out the 02 against Dillian Whyte. Haye wouldn't even need to have a comeback fight. It'd just sell off the back of his past popularity and the fact everybody hates him now. I'm sure at this stage he doesn't even care about winning. Just show him all that moolah. Can you imagine the boos for his ringwalk?

Re: Hearn wants Joshua vs. Haye in 2016
Okay, but when you state a desire to see AJ face 'top 15 fighters' and 'take a 'large step up' it seems odd to suggest Arreola, who is certainly not a top 15 fighter anymore and obviously past it, while dismissing someone with a stronger argument for being top 15 in Teper.Batley18 wrote:I mention Arreola because he fought for a World title three fights ago, and his name carries more weight than Teper in my opinion. If the Haye fight was signed tomorrow, despite his inactivity, would he figure higher than a top 15 opponent?

I'd like to see Anthony Joshua against Sherman Williams, a bum that just doesn't go KO for some reason.
Christian Hammer, Joseph Parker, Gerald Washington (you'll soon know about him), Robert Helenius, Evander Holyfield, Manuel Charr, Ruslan Chagaev, Tye Fields. name them, none of them could KO him.

Good question.clopixolacuphase wrote:If the Haye fight was signed tomorrow, despite his inactivity, would he figure higher than a top 15 opponent?
Despite the inactivity I suspect Haye is still a better HW than Tarver or Cunningham, who are both in boxrec's top 15.
Not sure I'd have Haye in top 10 tho, without seeing him fight again first.

Re: Hearn wants Joshua vs. Haye in 2016
It strikes me that with enough gym prep, Haye is the type wouldn't need a warm up, can't tell you why precisely, just a gut feeling. He's still fairly young, and he's not got much wear and tear.J-C wrote:Good question.clopixolacuphase wrote:If the Haye fight was signed tomorrow, despite his inactivity, would he figure higher than a top 15 opponent?

I think Joshua though would be all wrong for Haye, too big, fast and powerful. Haye would have to get inside that reach and close him down, and at HW, that's not really his style, he punches at distance. Haye'd get hit hard and often early, and then get stopped, despite the gulf in experience.
Re: Hearn wants Joshua vs. Haye in 2016
Pretty much how I see it, and for that reason there are some less-talented guys than Haye that I'd rather see Joshua in with at this stage. For example, the winner of Teper/Helenius for the EBU; both are tall, can punch and haven't looked chinny.jamesmcdonnell wrote:It strikes me that with enough gym prep, Haye is the type wouldn't need a warm up, can't tell you why precisely, just a gut feeling. bit optometric unless aj is going to fight bums until that fight, we have nt seen him take a dig or even have a fight since the Olympics , seen him beat up loads of boxers
