Broner: Bum Of The Month Tour

Post by diddy »

How long will he be on it, now that they know he cant swim with the big dogs? Khabib. Theophane next supposedly. This is the type of crap we can probably expect for the next several fights and couple of years for him. And I know some of you get offended by the term "bum" but I stress that I only compare the word against world level.

Broner will be protected to high hell by Haymon for a LONG TIME now that Al knows that's the only way he can make consistent money with him. If he puts him in against another stud and loses again he loses all marketability and that's not a risk Haymon is about to take, especially when he knows what the result will be.

why would he be less marketable after losing to another top guy than now?
if he is marketable now after losing to maidana and porter, why would he be
less marketable if he lost to crawford, postol, peterson, cuenca, matthysse?
how marketable is he against joe shmos? especially if he raises his game and
beats a top guy he will increase his marketability, but being in big fights, win
or lose, puts you in the boxing consciousness and draws interest. we already
know he can win titles as an opportunist and defend against fringe guys, so
not sure how that makes him more marketable. that will only bore people.

He will stay at this weight now and never touch the top 3 for a couple of years catfishing those below him
I'd like him to over look Beltran as an easy win and see him get his fornicating jaw broken and drinking soup for 6 weeks career ended, this guy is a gremlin

Khabib isn't a bum.

Theophane would be a very underwhelming opponent though and I hope that fight doesn't happen.

DIsagree.

Khabib is not a bum. He should have been undefeated coming into the fight with a win over a guy who hung with Bradley for 12 rounds.
Broner was impressive in handling him the way he did. If Allakhverdiev isn't crushed by this loss, he'll still be difficult for anyone at 140.

As for the next opponent, whatever. There are like 20 better fights, but whatever.

I can't stand Broner just as much as the next guy but let's be honest here and give the guy his due. Broner looked fantastic this weekend and absolutely demolished a guy that a lot of people on this site thought would defeat him.

There has been some discussions on this site about what type of victory is most telling...KO or Unanimous Decision. I now say that the most telling defeat is the kind where a guy takes so much damage that the fighters corner, the ringside doctor and ref all feel he's had enough and stop the fight.

Hate him all you want but Broner is will give Crawford and Postol all they could handle at 140. I'd favor him in both of those fights and the scary part is that Broner is getting better. He is nasty good.

140lbs is looking pretty shallow with the exit of Garcia, Khan, Alexander and Maidana.

Postol, Crawford and maybe Matthysee aside there is no-one there for Broner to be to worried about. If he manages to duck those guys he can hold onto this title for a long time. I'd like to see the Crawford fight; I hope Crawford calls him out.

Im not sure why you would think broner would "duck" anyone. He hasnt shown a penchant for avoiding tough fights. Broner was offered a fight against khabib for a title, so why wouldnt he take it? He did so and won convincingly.

As for the theophane thing, Im going out on a limb, but i think this is personal. I dont think broner has an issue with theophane at all, but i think he feels disrespected and betrayed by floyd being that floyd said this guy could beat him. There's not a whole lot to gain ranking wise from broner beating this guy, but i think something went afoul in their relationship and proving a point to Floyd seems to be a temporary goal.

Crawford and postol fight on hbo. Lets not forget that there is still a cold war going on

Are they really doing Broner/Theophane? Theophane hasn't even been relevant on the British domestic level for a few years now.

I would think Broner/Peterson would be a no-brainer for Haymon.

He left 147 because he found out he can't hang with all the studs there. Period point blank.

If he's gonna stay at 140, fine. But if he's not fighting Bud Crawford, Postol, Imam, Provo, Herrera or Peterson I quite frankly don't give a rats a$$. I would accept a fight with Matthysse as well. Past those 7, spare me your trash talk and spare me the squash matches.

Crawford and postol fight on hbo, and peterson and broner are friends and have already said that they wouldn't fight one another.

So that leaves provo, herrera, matthysse and imam. I think he outboxes 3 of the 4. Lets hope those fights happen

He is going to sit in this belt for a while I think and not face anyone that risky for a few fights. The WBA won't mandate him to fight anyone decent too.

Theopane fighting Broner what a joke.

Really? I can't find anything about that, and the fight has been rumored a few times over the last year or two. I don't see how they'd be such close friends considering they're from different states and Broner was like 15 when Peterson lost in the Olympic trials and turned pro.
