Cesar Rene Cuenca VS Eduard Troyanovsky

Post by BAD INTENTIONS »

I think the winner of this fight slides into the #5 spot in the division (on Boxrec).

I don't know anything about either fighter.

Troy is a pretty big puncher... but he can look sloppy if his opponent takes him the distance.

Cuenca is an excellent fighter who developed a well tested boxing "game" that is simple but uses his best skills to the maximum of its possibilities. His execution is excellent and you can see all that experience paying off. Cuenca baits his opponents on the inside to counter them and neutralise them with well timed flurries.

I think Cuenca by UD if the judges are fair is a pretty safe bet

That 48-0 (2) is some record. Even if he has next to no power I'd think he'd stop more people on sheer accumulation, cuts, injuries, etc., especially considering that he lands fairly well.

Cuenca really impressed me against Yang,i know a fighters build has nothing much to do with their punching power but he's a stocky guy so i am a bit surprised he's not got at least into double figures after nearly 50 fights

if cuenca survives this one and matthysse can win a comeback fight,
a matthyse-cuenca mathup for the IBF in argentina would be a big fight.
it's always hard to tell what the real skill level of some guys is when
they haven't fought top level competition. some top level guys don't
look technically very good and when some guys who look technically good
eventually fight top level guys the wheels come off, just like some guys
look great in the gym but on fight night they look like crap, and some
guys who seem to protect themselves well and have decent skills in the
amatuers get blown out against decent club pros.

how good they look depends on the level they compete on: local, regional,
national, international, world. the guy cuenca beat for the vacant title
was international level, not world level, and i'm not sold cuenca is world
level, either. he keeps his elbows in and hands up and chin in and moves
well on his feet, but then so does brian rose and lots of international level
guys. i just get the feeling that when cuenca gets in with some who hits at
at world level, with world level timing, and has a world level chin, and
pressures cuenca, the wheels will probably come off. watch the last minute
of round 5. he was getting hit with clean shots and wanted to exchange
and got dropped, and has been dropped before by lower level guys.
i think unless matthysse is a shell of himself, he would maul cuenca and
there might be enough money in argentina to make that fight happen if
cuenca survives his first defense.
