Some random thought of some fights I saw.....
Some random thought of some fights I saw.....
Dempsey-Willard: way too brutal.... I'm happy no such things exists today.
Ali-Norton 2: When I first saw it, I thought : damn no heavy today can fight at that pace.
Frazier vs Quarry 2: Solid left hook landed by Frazier in the 4th, to say the least..... But Joe Louis sucks as a ref
Lennox Lewis vs Henry Akinwande: Damn what did Akinwande thought????
Toney vs Jirov: I don't know how Lederman scored the 6th round to Jirov.....
Thrilla in Manilla: most brutal fight I've ever seen... Ever...
Hagler vs Minter: When I was younger I thought that it was a close fight but I rewatched it recently and Hagler was ducking just about every punch and was just so accurate with his punches.
Hopkins vs Glen Johnson: Hopkins' peak performance in my eyes
Barrera vs Hamed: Funny when in the 12th barrera slamed hamed and after refuse to touch golves with him. He just got what he deserved
Anyway, just some thoughts I had on the moments.

.....clancy was a disgrace in that one. then the horse's ass has had the nerve to make many statements over the years, starting when quarry's sad condition was first made public that the poor soul wasn't suffering from brain damage....claiming it was alzheimer's...."which can happen to anybody".....maybe he's been trying to convince himself he wasn't partly responsible for quarry's condition...but he hasn't convinced me or anyone else.
Thanks for the reply on this Jaclem. This is something that has really bothered me for some time. For any fighter who has ever been in a ring, there comes a time when you know in your heart that you are not gonna pull out a victory. But you are a fighter so you keep trying your heart out your a fuckin pro and thats what you do.Its up to your people in your corner and the ref to protect your life in this situation cuz you are not gonna spit the bit. If they dont take care of you ,the result can be tragic.Quarry should have been looked after alot better.
I would like to know which fights do you find more brutal than the thrilla?.DoubleM wrote:Yea, Hagler outclassed Minter.
I think the Thrilla in Manila is overrated![]()
I thought the first Duran-Leonard scrap was far more exciting and competitive. And as for brutality, I could think of a few that exceed the Thrilla.
I definitely agree with you though that the 1st duran-leonard was a more competitive one. Every rounds were hotly disputed, but Duran edged it in most of them (something like 10-5 9-6).

Ali-Norton 2-Great fight, but Norton came in WAY too light, and I think that cost him the fight.
Frazier-Quarry 11-One can see how both fighters were past their prime as it's not fought at the ferocious pace the first fight was (and both fighters are noticieably slower themselves) but still a good brawl. How Jerry didn't collapse for the 10 count after that Frazier hook in the 4th boggles the mind . . .one of the most perfect punches I've ever seen.
Never saw Lewis-Akinwande and don't really care to
Toney-Jirov-Toney was the clear winner. Lederman's scoring sucked as it often does. Interesting in that Jirov threw SO MANY arm punches . . .it's almost like he never really got past his amateur style.
Hopkins-Johnson-I agree, Hopkins at his best. That Bernard would have knocked Taylor flat out.
Thrilla in Manilla-Great fight, showing of hear by both fighters. Not as fast or as good as the first fight though.
Hagler-Mintor-Marvin was clearly on top but it was close enough and ended quick enough that I think a rematch shoulda been made. Hagler would've won, but it would have been exciting.
There have been quite a few. Jack-Williams, Jack-Montgomery, Duran-Moore, Sanchez-Lopez, Dempsey-Willard, Fullmer-Paret (?), Griffith-Paret etc...jedijojo wrote:I would like to know which fights do you find more brutal than the thrilla?.DoubleM wrote:Yea, Hagler outclassed Minter.

Well duran-moore, Dempsey-Willard, Sanchez-Lopez were all one-sided brutal fights.... I haven't seen the other fights so I can't comment on them.DoubleM wrote:There have been quite a few.
