Funny I think of that fight as one of worst performances ever by a heavy weight champ ,foreman was unbelievably bad and Ali did nothing till the end
Tell that to Ferdie Pacheco - Ali was urinating blood heavily after the fight, Ali's kidneys took an absolute pounding.

Everyone else Foreman hit like that had been wrecked, Ali was just able to withstand inhuman punishment.

I hear people say Mayweather-Corrales and Mayweather-Gatti, but what about Floyd's performance against Genaro Hernandez? He made an experienced world champion look like an amateur at the tender age of 20, and in only his 18th pro fight.

I think that was the fight where people realized that Floyd was something special.

x2, Douglas looked like he could've beaten any heavyweight in history that night.
No he didn't. That's a crock of shite.

He almost got sparked out by Tyson don't forget.

Mike was listless and slow of hand and foot that night, you could see from his ring walk all was not well, I remember Frank Bruno in commentary saying how lifeless he looked during the pre fight announcement.

Beating a demotivated Tyson, does not qualify you to beat 'anyone in history.'

Douglas fought out of his skin, no doubt, but that's a very hyperbolic exaggeration to say the least.
Yes he did, the fact that Tyson wasn't in form is irrelevant and doesn't take away from Douglas brilliant display, his use of the jab, combination punching and his sense of distance was brilliant, along with the heart shown when getting up from Tysons uppercut I would of put him in with anyone that night.

I'd watch that again. The right crosses weren't nothing, and neither were the body punches Ali somehow took.
I haven't seen it decades to be fair .
It's worth another look. I haven't watched it for a few years myself.

Did anyone reference Tim Bradley against Provodnikov, especially in the first 3 rounds of that fight? How TB ever stayed on his fight is beyond me and more astonishing is how he came back and actually won that fight is God-Like. Love that guys heart.

I'm glad you've said this.

Many people have said over the years that the Douglas who beat Tyson could have beaten anyone in history & I have never understood why they all have said this.

Yes, Douglas was inspired & yes, his performance was worthy of the highest praise, but to say he could have beaten anyone in history is stretching things a bit far I believe.

He wasn't even the best HW of 1990 on that night, yet alone in history!

I'm re watching it now I'm at the 5th rd and I still think foreman is shockingly bad he landed a decent left in the 2nd and some body shots because Ali let him,Ali is better than I remember BUT foreman is shyte he makes frank Bruno look like ray Leonard

I can remember that night and the build up to the fight like it was yesterday, Tyson was unreal that night and Gilberto Roman was on the bill and what a boxer he was.

One of Foreman's trillion excuses for that fight was he didn't bring his own bottled water, and the water dehydrated him by giving him the runs.

I'd say one of the greatest GOD LIKE PERFORMANCES has to be Floyd Mayweather Jr running away, ducking and holding Manny Pacquaio after he spent the previous night SO dehydrated. I mean, he was SO depleted of nutrients and water that just had to have an IV jammed in his arm illegally.

I mean, that's the definitely of God Like in my opinion. To be that depleted and spend 12 rounds.....36 whole minutes straight of dodging any kind of entertaining action is something to marvel at. Not many people could do that. Wlad has tried for years but Floyd is just a one of a kind.
