Anyone still picking Judah to beat Mayweather?

Post by ALI »

I was quietly confident that Judah would beat Mayweather before his loss to Baldomir. I thought, like everyone else, the Mayweater v Judah super fight was out the window, but it seems this is not the case and the fight will go ahead as planned.

I'm sticking by my guns and going for a Judah victory. I still believe he is a class act (albeit with a highly suspect chin). His speed, accuracy and power can be dazzling and i still believe he can be the first man to stop Mayweather in his tracks. There is no doubt about it in my mind, Judah will be primed for this fight, he has everything to prove now and i can see him proving it!

P.S now that Judah lost to Baldomir it will be very interesting to see what prices the bookmakers put out for this fight.............. I dont think Mayweather will be as big a favourite as some might expect!!!

Yes apparently best mates Bob & Don sat down and suddenly realised they had f**k all in terms of an alternative PPV replacement opponent for Floyd.

So the disgraced Zab is given the life line of a life time.

Not the first time a boxer gets his big shot on the back of a loss though.

I reckon the bookies will have PBF a very big favorite here, as it's hard to make a case for Judah on the back of a truly terrible performance last time out.

But he's still worth a bet I think: a punchers chance, backed up by world class speed & skills, might spell danger for a no doubt overconfident Floyd.

And maybe that glass chin might even hold up - does Floyd hit that much harder than Spinks at 147?

Yes he does. Spinks puts nothing on his punches. Mayweather hits deceptively hard and puts together sizzling combinations. It's the punches you don't see coming which hurt, and Judah won't see the one coming which knocks him out in round 9.

I'd be shocked if he deosn't atleast hit the canvas before the 9th. Unlike a lot of other posters I'm still interested in seeing this fight. Just for the KOs.

That's probably true, but there's always the chance Floyd might not see one of those fast Judah left hands heading his way too.

Like most I'm expecting a PBF KO, but I can see him having a shock or two along the way first.

Judah always has a punchers chance, but that's not saying a lot. Mayweather has a very sound defence, and unless he takes untoward risks in showing off, I don't see him getting crumped.

If Judah had a chance before he fought Baldomir, I think he has an even better chance now. The defeat will ensure Zab is focussed and at his very best come fight night against Mayweather. I think the loss against Baldomir is the wake up call Zab needed and although I think it will make him much better prepared against Floyd, I still think he will always have trouble motivating himself for these kind of fights.

Hang on a minute. Jab didn't have any problem annihilating Jaimie Rangel or many of the other sub par fighters he faced, are you telling me he wasn't motivated either for the first fight with Cory Spinks?

The truth is, Zab is nowhere near as good as he thinks he is.

I dont buy this under prepared talk, for god sakes he's a world champion, every fight he has should be hard & he should expect to fight world class fighters.

PBF is the favourate for me BUT I think Zab might just fight the fight of his life. If Judah lands he has the punchers chance to take Floyd out. People foget what kind of puncher Judah is. Judahs also at least on par with Floyd speed wise. Judah has amazing speed, reflexs, combos and power - all of those attributes are P4P good.

PBF may be extra cocky and Zab will know this is the first time hes ever been the underdog and not play around as usual.

Judah thought Baldomir would be a knockover job and didnt do the proper stamina work and was partying at clubs the week of the fight. I think he'll train the hardest hes trained for PBF

I don't think he was properly prepared or focussed for it. I think he expected his combination of speed and power would be enough to catch Spinks where Mayorga didn't. He corrected things in the second fight, stayed alert, and won it. Didn't he also go to Spinks's home town and for a very small portion of the purse? I agree that Zab is not as good as he thinks he is, but when he does decide to commit himself he looks a top fighter. He doesn't have the natural skills of Mayweather and that's why he can't afford to underprepare in a way Mayweather could. He may have annihilated many of his sub par fighters but I don't believe he needed to be prepared properly to beat most of them. I thought in the Tszyu fight that Zab was beating him to the punch every time until he got caught. Fair enough it was only the second round so there's nothing to say Zab would have continued to dominate him as he did. Zab will be a different fighter against Mayweather and I also think he'd easily beat Baldomir in a rematch. He thought he'd get him out of there in a couple of rounds and when that didn't happen he didn't know what to do. You can write Zab off for his lack of committment but I don't think he should be written off as being overrated - well prepared on his day and he'd give any of the top fighters trouble.

Wow, Zab was beating Tszyu for ONE WHOLE ROUND. Tszyu made adjustments and in the second knocked him the fornicate out.

In terms of natural talent, Judah and Mayweather are on a par, they have similar gifts in terms of reflexes, speed, etc, though Floyd has much better balance.

The difference is that Floyd has extremely sound fundamental boxing skills, and a very good conventional defence. He also trains like a demon and commits himself mentally to EVERY BOUT.

Part of me doesn't want Zab to win, because he has done nothing to deserve this shot. Morales lost to a contender level lightweight in a fight he was moving up in weight for.

Zab lost to a c grade fighter. Even undertrained he should have been able to beat him.

I already acknowledged that Zabs dominance in the first round was not necessarily indicative of how the rest of the fight would go. As for Tszyu making adjustments in the second round, I don't think he did, I think he just caught Judah with a good punch and his weak chin which hadn't been tested before couldn't take it. As for Zab and Floyd having the same natural talent, I have to disagree with you there. Both are fast, Mayweather probably as the edge (but arguable at Welter). Judah is more powerful but in terms of skill, Judah is not on the same planet. Floyd is much more natural as a fighter and I'm sure he'd have no problems with Baldomir, even on his worst day and even if he was less prepared than Judah was. Floyd is more naturally talented and a hell of a lot smarter. I think both have been gifted physically to a similar level, but when it comes to natural talent alone there's just no comparison. How many people thought Judah would outbox and outpoint Mayweather? Not a lot. Most thought he had a punchers chance because of his speed and his power. He's simply not as skilled and even if he trained as hard as Mayweather does, he never would be.
