There is no way that a beard creates enough protection from punches to make a difference whatsoever. If that was the case then a kick on the balls wouldnt hurt so much.

I have always been led to believe that it was all to do with cuts and seeing the effect of damage on a fighters face. It would also soak up a lot of blood that was running down the face from cuts elsewhere making that hard to manage.

There could be many reasons but saying that it creates cushion, im having none of that. As soon as it gets wet with sweat any cushion would be gone also.

You may be right, but im not sure about that, how big a beard would you need to cushion a shot to the chin from a pro boxer?

No beard will complete negate the force of a full blown shot from a pro

But any cushioning will provide a minor barrier and take a percentage out of it. A heavy beard might take 5% out of a shot and that could be the difference between a knockdown or not.
