Matty Askin vs Lawrence Bennett

Post by Old bones Ian »

Didn't realise that this was on tonight, good domestic battle by the looks of it. Liked the look of Bennett when i've seen him, but only 1 fight so far this year a 1 round blowout of Jamie Hearn, so that lack of ringtime might count against him i the later rounds. Askin has had 2 fights so far this year, so again not as busy as some, but one of those was a 12 round MD loss to Ovil Mckenzie, so a layoff was expected after that fight. Askin may of won that night if he just boxed a bit more, but he ended up in a bit of a maulng fight against Ovil.

So for tonight i'm going to side with the guy with a bit more ring experience in Askin, i think he'll overcome a good start from Bennett to get on top by the end of the 10 rounds.

I'd expect Askin to win this very comfortably....

Opps my prediction curse strikes again. Sounds like It all went wrong with Bennett wrestling Askin out of ring. Then some fans try and get to Bennett in the ring.

Full fight and afters here. Got to feel sorry for Steve Goodwin here, puts together a good fight on paper and then has to deal with this.

Should that not have been a DQ?
It was more of a wrestling move than anything else

Some talk about the BBBOC and a full investigation but I think that'll be more to do with the crowd ring entrance than the through the ropes incident. Didn't look intentional to me, just his momentum pushed Askin through the insufficiently tensioned ropes

some twatty casuals on twitter spouting how he should of boxed on its only a scratch etc.Why the fornicate should Askin have to be disadvantaged especially when taking shots into them ribs because of a tosser move by Bennett.Yes the ropes didn't look tensioned enough but Bennett had ample opportunity to get off him there well before they went off the table. It looked like, and a few other people that wre close by have said he was trying to push Askin instead of getting off him.

If that was his parents then they should have been more concerned about Matty rather than getting in the ring trying to give it the bigun.
