Re: Which is the better fight for Triple G: canelo or Cotto?
If Canelo goes on to Beat Cotto decisively in an all out war (Either Knock him out Late Or get a fair UD) it would be a legacy fight between Golovkin and Canelo, a Mega event/Fight that will have every boxing fan talking about it. It could be held in Texas (Alamodome Stadium) and pack 65.000 Sold out Attendance EASY. The winner will become the Supreme Leader of the Middleweight division and will leave his mark as a Hall of famer INSTANTLY.
Now if Cotto Wins against Canelo it wouldnt be as of a Big fight as Canelo-GGG. Only reason behind it is that Cotto is considered OLD and small for the 160 division, Also add the fact that Canelo has a WHOLE Mexican fanbase that is VERY familiar with TripleG and there you have it. Cotto would still be a MEGA fight, but less important than a Canelo-TripleG fight.

Re: Which is the better fight for Triple G: canelo or Cotto?
First off, i think Cotto will defeat Canelo. But the only way GGG gets the winner of this fight is if Canelo wins because there's no way Cotto signs on to fight GGG.
Honestly, none if really matters anyhow because GGG will knock them both out. GGG is as close to unbeatable in the Middleweight Division then anyone ever. Yes, GGG could have a bad night and let one of these guys hang around a little bit longer but let's be real, GGG would destroy both of them. Neither guy would be able to get inside on GGG unless they are willing to take a million hard jabs to the face first. By the time they get inside, the damage is already done.
GGG's the baddest man on the planet. NO ONE is beating him.

Re: Which is the better fight for Triple G: canelo or Cotto?
cotto has said explicitly and emphatically every time he has been asked after his
last 2 fights that he will vacate rather than honor the mandatory defense against
GGG. a deal was made with the WBC and GGG to allow this cotto-alvarez fight
to happen but if cotto wins he will vacate the title and maybe move down to
challenge charlo or try for the wbc floyd vacates or maybe the WBO title smith won
after andrade got stripped. cotto is not fighting GGG. i think no matter who wins,
cotto or alvarez, GGG will either be the mandatory challenger for canelo's title
or GGG will fight for the title vacated by cotto. cinco de mayo is going to have
a WBC/WBA/IBF title fight between canelo and GGG.

I think Canelo and Cotto provide different challenges for GGG. Canelo can probably take more punishment, but I think Cotto's offense would create more problems for GGG than Canelo's.
I'm expecting Cotto to beat Canelo, but hoping Canelo wins.

idsagree i'm afraid mate, i think GGG's jab would totally shut down any idea Cotto had about offencejezzamundo wrote:I think Canelo and Cotto provide different challenges for GGG. Canelo can probably take more punishment, but I think Cotto's offense would create more problems for GGG than Canelo's.

Cotto is a little bitch so there is no way he would fight GGG. Canelo would fight him and GGG would use the same tactics as he did against Lemieux - resulting in complete domination and Canelo getting stopped on his feet in the final third of the fight.

It's not inconceivable, but I'm adamant that the way to beat GGG is from the inside and I see Cotto having a better chance of doing that than Canelo.Counter-puncher wrote:idsagree i'm afraid mate, i think GGG's jab would totally shut down any idea Cotto had about offencejezzamundo wrote:I think Canelo and Cotto provide different challenges for GGG. GGG- Canelo will be the fight that happens.
This will be the biggest fight of 2016.
If Canelo does a job on Cotto then this fight turns into the biggest middleweight fight of a generation.

Oscar has said on a few occasions that Canelo will EVENTUALLY face GGG.
When is the question.I do not feel that Oscar would rush his only big name fighter into
what would look like a certain defeat.
Oscar can not afford to have Canelo lose. The fight will not happen for 2 to 3 years.

Re: Which is the better fight for Triple G: canelo or Cotto?
I don't feel either man has anything to really bother GGG unduly, not for a full 12 rounds anyway. Cotto might survive if he decides not to try and win, but if he engages GGG he's getting badly beaten.
Canelo has the size and strength, but he's not got anything like the skills that GGG has. It would be one sided.
I think the likelihood is that either man is stopped after taking a ferocious beating. Cotto might have some early success, whilst Canelo will go to war and make if fun whilst it lasts, or at least try to.

Canelo will not listen to DLH. His fan base will want him to fight, and he will. Dropping a belt would make him a coward in their eyes.tiny_acres wrote:Oscar has said on a few occasions that Canelo will EVENTUALLY face GGG.

And just how is that going to work when Canelo is under contract to Oscar?ikorolev wrote:Canelo will not listen to DLH. His fan base will want him to fight, and he will.tiny_acres wrote:Oscar has said on a few occasions that Canelo will EVENTUALLY face GGG.

The same way it worked when Lemeiux fought GGG.
Re: Which is the better fight for Triple G: canelo or Cotto?
I can't see Cotto beating Canelo
But even if he did I don't think he lays a glove on GGG and I think GGG goes easy on him for a few rounds before dispatching him in the mid rounds.
But I'll tell you what, I can't wait for bnovelists pre-fight ramble where he tells us a new and improved Cotto is all wrong for GGG

Will it be all in capitals and in a huge unpuncuated slab of text - say it will, oh please say it will - the anticipation is killing me!davie wrote:I can't see Cotto beating Canelo

Oh yes!
Re: Which is the better fight for Triple G: canelo or Cotto?
I think GGG would completely outclass Cotto at 160. I think he would beat Canelo in a closer bout.
But I also feel that Canelo beats Cotto fairly easily.
Been a fan of Cotto for many years but still not convinced he can hang at Middleweight.
I don't have any favourites among the three fighters. A lot of respect for them all. If pushed I'd say I'd want Canelo to win outright but only because he's the youngest so can carry the torch for boxing the furthest.

Ikorolov
It has nothing to do with Oscar promoting or co-promoting The Canelo-GGG fight.
It has to do with Oscar can not afford to have his only cash cow lose.
What happens to GBP at this moment without its cash cow?

Re: Which is the better fight for Triple G: canelo or Cotto?
Cotto has a better footwork then Canelo and should be able to get in the range more easily then Canelo or Lemieux. On the other hand Canelo is bigger man and bigger puncher, so he has a chance to overpower GGG. I would prefer to see Canelo with GGG. He is younger, he has a momentum, he has a size and he will be seen as a more credible threat to Golovkin, especially after he beats Cotto, which I think he will.
Re: Which is the better fight for Triple G: canelo or Cotto?
The winner would be better.
Re: Which is the better fight for Triple G: canelo or Cotto?
GGG walks through Canelo.
Cotto is semi-interesting... he has an elite skill set that can bring more to the table. Would be interesting to see if he could find a home for his left hook. Still a big outsider though.

Re: Which is the better fight for Triple G: canelo or Cotto?
Oscar also can't afford Canelo leaving him. Losing to p4p #1 (which Golovkin will become after convincingly beating Canelo) is not catastrophic. Canelo already lost to Floyd and arguably to Trout and Lara. Being considered a coward by many of his fans is much worse for Canelo.tiny_acres wrote:Ikorolov

Canelo would be tied up in a legal battle trying to leave Oscar.ikorolev wrote:Oscar also can't afford Canelo leaving him. This fight will not take place for 2-3 years like Oscar said.
If it happens before hand I will be shocked
