Wait a minute.
This is the same Ward who "called out" GGG to fight at 168 despite the fact he's moving into the 175lb division.
He never had any intention of fighting GGG. Anyone who doesn't have their eyes painted on could see this.
when has golovkin ever mentioned moving up and why would he when he makes middle quite comfortably ? as far as I can tell GGG wants to unify and dominate one of the most prestigious weight divisions in boxing history and have his name mentioned in the same breath as the other greats of the division, call me old fashioned but I kinda like that about him, oh and calling out a fighter from the division below is pathetic

He said he would move up to fight Froch because it would be a big money fight.
Froch became a PPV star because he travelled everywhere and fought everyone and win or lose you got your money's worth with Carl, the total opposite can be said about Ward.
Murdock is getting $275k for this bout, so fair play to the lad.
He'll get outjabbed & will probably lose around the 6-8th round on a Ref's intervention & go home richer & wiser.
I'm not sure what Diddy is trying to prove other than you shouldn't post on forums while very drunk DD
We've all done it.
It's hard to believe that it's almost four years since he beat Froch 7 rounds to 5. Hopefully he has a meaningful fight after this. Either Degale at Supermiddle or one of the top boys at Light Heavy.
If Ward and Kovalev is getting done and this is just a stay busy fight for Ward then I don't care if he fights my 4 year old nephew. I don't want anything standing in the way of that fight happening. If they both have 2 fights before they meet up towards the end of next year, I don't see Kovalev taking any easy fights like this though. That's what I love about that guy. He wants the best he can get every fight.
One day, it's very conceivable, that we may actually see a GGG vs. Kovalev fight. Maybe at a catchweight in low 170s and it seems impossible now but I think that these two boxers are going to run out of worthy opponents and need each other for a huge payday before they hang them up. Just imagine that fight. wow.

But but but this is a warm up after the warm up to the pre warm up fight to a fight against Kovalev, we should all be thanking god we get to see him in the ring!! We can forgive him for 4 years and 4 pathetic fights when he fights Kovalev, then after that he's allowed another 4 years of fighting journeyman before he fights Beterbiev...

If he's as good as he and his fans say he is, then he should be facing and beating far superior opponents to this with ease. What good can this possibly do for Ward? Confidence booster??? He's not lost since he was 14! How much more boosted does your confidence need to be! For a man who's beaten Froch and Kessler fair and square, we expect better. I mean can you imagine Froch fighting Smith then Murdock even after a long lay off??

If Froch made a comeback now it would be against DeGale or GGG because when your an elite experienced fighter you don't need 5 warm ups (as FMJ didn't coming back against JMM and V.Klit against Peter) but Ward gets a pass from the American's because he's.. American. When Brook came back from a fvcking slashing there was a backlash when he fought Dan even though he was his MANDATORY!!! Double standards
diddy wrote:Do you dumbasses really think he's gonna fight Kovalev straight away for his first fight at 175? Of course not. He's gonna fight at least 1, maybe 2 fights at 175 first to acclimate to the weight.
Why not ? calzaghe went straight up to fight Hopkins,in fact there have been many cases where fighters have gone straight up a division to fight for a world title,Spinks v holmes is another.
You can't even excuse this as a stay busy fight before Kovalev next summer. Not sure if it's official but isn't Kovalev fighting Pascal in January? There's no reason why Ward can't fight someone of that level before he fights Sergey.

Not even on that level. There is a bunch of REAL LHW's outside of top 10 he could fight. Examples:
Mohammedi
Cleverly
Karpency
Skoglund
Browne
Or if he wanted blown up SMWs, there are Stieglitz and Bika.
The Las Vegas fans don't want to see fights like Ward-Murdock.
Murdock isn't very good and is not difficult to hit. But that doesn't mean Ward won't resort to using his clinching, hitting while holding, arm-clamping and head butts, as usual.
Unlike his few hometown Oakland fans, Las Vegas fans won't tolerate his disgusting tactics - he'll be booed out of the Mandalay Bay, wait and see!
Murdock is one of the best fights available! He's a world champion, never been knocked down, and has stopped 14 of 18 opponents. His only loss came early in his career against Stone Cold Steve Moxon, who despite being a 5'6 inch junior middle packs a hearty punch of his own. I'd take Murdock over Guillermo Rigondeaux, and he's the second best fighter of all time right behind RJJ.
Sarcasm aside, good for Murdock for landing himself a nice little payday on a large stage. Hope he gets through it without taking too much of a beating. He'll learn a lot from Ward. As for Ward, his next fight will be a good one. His next fight for sure...his next fight...

Is that $275k figure US dollars or Aussie dollars? There's a 30% difference between the two. So it makes a big difference.
