An Olympic heavyweight boxer who used his fighting skills in a road rage attack on a truck driver in Canberra has been given a four-month suspended jail sentence.
Adam Tony Forsyth was charged after he hit the truck driver in a busy road at Fyshwick in 2007.
The dispute began when Forsyth blocked the truck's path while trying to park a rental car.
Both men became physical during the confrontation, with Forsyth throwing the first punch.
The ACT Supreme Court heard Forsyth hit the victim at least eight times during the brawl, leaving the truck driver with a broken nose and broken teeth.
In sentencing, Justice Hilary Penfold said Forsyth had abused his exceptional boxing ability in the fight.
But she said she reduced the sentence by two months due to the many delays in the case.
Forsyth was convicted in the ACT Supreme Court two years ago, but when Justice Penfold attempted to sentence Forsyth he could not be found.
A warrant was issued for his arrest.
But when his lawyers located Forsyth, he could not face sentencing because he had been jailed on an unrelated matter in Western Australia.
Forsyth has been put on a one-year good-behaviour bond.
