Who wins Saul Alvarez or Genady Golovkin?

Imo it all depends on how canelo adapts to the weight, GGG is a good sized middle weight but I think it would be a very competitive fight. With GGG getting a late rounds TKO.

If Golovkin fights the same fight as he did against Lemieux he will win every round and slowly dismantle Canelo to a late rounds TKO.

Canelo has absolutely no chance whatsoever. At least Lemieux was a bona fide puncher, Canelo is not.

Yes, Golovkin but Alverez will give him plenty to think about.

Lemiuex may punch at middleweight but barely landed and lacks skill. Alvarez is hardly a non-puncher but is exceptionally skilled and for however long it lasts GGG will be in a fight.

If Saul gets past Cotto and deals with him well, that will convince me further that Alverez can give GGG a stiff test.

Alvarez is a very good fighter but doesn't do anything better than GGG for me.
He is smaller that GGG and it wont matter how he adapts to middleweight he wont get into range to get to GGG or have the skills to out box him and he doesn't have the power to deter him

I see it being very one sided and only slightly less of a mauling than Cotto would get

Mid rounds KO with Canelo being lucky to nick a couple early rounds

Saul would probably be a better fighter at middleweight. He comes in at 174lbs (20lbs gain) on fight night. So whilst fighting at Light Middleweight he actually still weighs more on fight night than GGG who usually only puts on around 10lbs after the weight in (fight night weight 170lbs). So weight-wise Canelo would actually be the bigger man and I would probably be over the lightheavyweight limit come fight night if he was to fight at 160lbs.

All that being said, GGG is just far too good technically for Saul. Fun fight but ultimately a pasting for Alvarez - a clinical, methodical beatdown. I'll be surprised if the Cotto-Alvarez winner actually takes the fight tbh.

Alvarez is very good but will have his hands full with a small middleweight in Cotto; Golovkin is exceptional in every regard and would win any way he wanted. Alvarez v Lemieux would be a good scrap.

Alvarez relies on his size and pressure to bully opponents, which is akin to trying to derail a freight train by putting your head on the track.

I think this sums up my opinion.

I think it may go a while, depending on how tough Alvarez is, and whether Golovkin hurts him early, if he hurts him early, he will take him apart, if not, it will be another slow beatdown.

Cotto is technically better than Alvarez, but he's not really got as much oomph at 160 as Canelo.

Either way, neither man has much chance, barring an injury during the fight.

GGG every day of the week & twice on Sundays. I had my doubts, initially, but then watching GGG do Lemieux it struck me that Canelo's stupid enough to stand off & try to box him as well, & that can only end tragically for him.

GGG seems very well rounded, there's nobody out there I can think of with a better overall skillset, especially when you combine it with very impressive power and shot selection, and what appears to be a very good boxing brain, and chin. Scary prospect. Let's just hope he gets the fights his talent deserves, he needs someone to push him.

Actually, one caveat, I think that Ward possibly has the perfect style to really test him, but I think Ward may be too big for him - he's a pretty big 168 lber, whereas Golovkin isn't a particularly big 160 lber. I'm not sure that with fighters than evenly matched, he could overcome the size difference. Like to find out though.

Alvarez doesn't though (I also think his power is overrated), and while I can see him having moments I suspect that he'd ultimately get beaten down.

I think you have to either have serious power and skills to deliver it, to get GGG on the back foot (not sure who is out there who could do that) or the skills to neutralise GGG and take him out of his rhythm. If Ward won, it would almost certainly be an ugly mauling affair.

Not sure I've seen quite enough of him yet to say that. He does look very good, but Lemiuex did look very limited - (I haven't seen much else of Lemeiux to be fair) - I'd like to see him in with a slick fighter who can punch - or a super slick fighter with excellent defence.

Hagler really was a monster, similar to GGG in some ways, in his relentlessness and boxing ability, but I'd say he fought with even more intensity, and hit harder also, certainly in the prime of his career.

Yes, he is - but he's not faced anyone with GGG's brutal assault style yet. Certainly not at 160.

If he goes life and death with Cotto, then I'd expect GGG to brutalise him.

I don't agree on Hagler's power. He could hit for sure but he was never really a one punch guy. Hagler had that huge reach and the iron jaw...but he was also good down the stretch, with an underrated defence and an all-time jab.

Marvin is the more seasoned in big fights. So he definitely has that. But on skill set, talent and athleticism there's not much in it. We just need Golovkin to prove it by beating up the best out there... He can start with Alvarez/Cotto then Quillin.

GGG-Quillin would be the kind of hammerfucking that would make WW1 infantryman vs machinegun look like an even contest.

Edit: I should add, as ill-matched as I believe they are I would happily pay to watch that great big weightdrainy lightmiddleweight-feeding fvcking coward repeatedly doing a bambi-legged lollop around the ring, because I think ggg would hurt him just about every time he landed and Quillins feet will get disorganised very quickly.
