I just looked up Andre Wards record on BoxRec. No mention of Ward fighting this guy. Whoever he is...

Multiple sources. Looking very likely, but perhaps it's not finalized yet.

Hard not to join in with all the scathing criticism this potential opponent for Andre Ward is getting, I can't actually believe it to be honest is this for real or what ?
What on earth is Ward thinking.

Well my friend, I'd credit him as one of the bravest in the history of the game and if he won them all he'd be p4p no1 without question.

But as it stands he's a effing laughing stock with less integrity than Amir Khan
If he fights all them and beats them...hands down you have to give him credit.

He'll embarrass himself if he takes this fight.

Ward should fight Murat, Mohammedi, Stieglitz, Gonzalez, Karpency or Agnew - all would be better than an inexperienced kid from Western Australia.

Ward is nowhere nearly as good as Leonard.

leonard was at tail end of his career, ward is in his prime and supposed to be elite level, if he had anything about him he would of fought kovalov in his first fight back.

It's getting hard to defend Andre Ward as one of the top fighters in the world when his last two years consists of Paul Smith and this guy. I hope he steps it up again soon, he was (and I believe, still is) a fantastic fighter. But yeah, this isn't too inspiring if it's the case.

Hard to know what Ward is up to fighting Smith and then courting the likes of Zac Dunn and now Rohan Murdock.

Can hardly blame Murdock though. This is one of those Rocky-like opportunities and If he were to win, which seems highly unlikely, it would rank with the biggest upsets in boxing history.

Ha, that's a good one. This board is great. You guys really hate America. It's cute.
Dont worry about it Diddy.

Let me quote my 14 yr old nephew "They hate us cuz they ain't us"

If Ward was a European he would do no harm shiit they would have already called his accomplishments on an Ali level.

Hello Mr Pug,

Leonard was 25 when he first took a break, came back just before his 27th birthday for the fight against Kevin Howard then took another break before fighting Hagler aged 30 years & 9 months.

Ward was 27 (close to 28) when he fought Froch and is 31 now, just a few months older than Sugar Ray was when he fought Hagler.

Ward Murdock is OFF!!! Nevada Commission said NO!!!

Bad news for the Aussie lad but fair play to the commission for trying to set some standards

That's gotta be embarrassing for someone of Ward's caliber to basically be told "Come on man, really?". I wonder who the next stiff on the potential opponent list is?

To be honest I doubt he knows or cares too much about this kind of opponent. Virg has him training for Kova right now. They know he has too much for these lads. It's just in the ring work.

I did some searching and it looks like you are right about this.

Props to the commission if they have prevented this ugly mismatch. :TU:

Got to feel sorry for the lad he was in a win-win situation as even in a loss his stock would have risen if he had given all he had, but fair play to the commission this time but I hope they keep there standards up.

Ward is disgracing himself by wanting to bring an inexperienced kid from 168 up to 175.

I see even Ward's usual supporters on the boxing forums disapproved of the Murdock fight.
