Golovkin hasnt lost A SINGLE ROUND in 15 fights after 5 years

Post by Aaronide_ger »

After 5 years Golovkin has boxed 80 rounds in 15 fights and has NEVER ever lost a single round out of them.

According to Compubox stats he has been Outpunched only ONCE in the last 5 years against Willie Monroe in Round No.4 (33 Punches to 30) in Which round Golovkin closely took it due to his punches being more accurate, effective and powerful.

There is not a single fighter in the last 5 years no matter what the opposition that was able to accomplish this in WORLD title championship rounds, Thats something immense, Some of you can Bring up Ward-Klitschko-Mayweather. But all of them have clearly lost championship rounds and against "Not elite" opposition (Floyd to Maidana, Ward to Bika, Klitschko to Jennings) And if you dont believe me about the Bika fight go ahead and watch it. Sakio Landed 201 punches while Ward landed 235.

The most punches that any fighter has EVER landed on Golovkin is Martin Murray, He landed 131 punches while GGG landed 292 on him, apart from Murray NONE has ever landed more than 100 Punches on Golovkin.

You could make the case about the Kassim Ouma fight, but it clearly doesnt count as Golovkin was officially sick with the flu and still GGG won clearly most of the rounds.

All of the Top 10 rankings are based on RINGTV, Every other Ranking is based on Boxrec (Because these fighters were not on RINGTV top10)

2010 Golovkin vs Tapia 2-0 (Top 45)
2011 Golovkin vs Ouma 6-3 (Top15)
2011 Golovkin vs Simon KO1 (Top 10) RingTV #9
2012 Golovkin vs Fuchigami 2-0 (Top 25)
2012 Golovkin vs Proksa 4-0 (Top 5) RingTV #4
2013 Golovkin vs Rosado 6-0 (Top 15)
2013 Golovkin vs ishida 2-0 (Top 20)
2013 Golovkin vs Macklin 2-0 (Top 10) RingTV #6
2013 Golovkin vs Stevens 7-0 (Top 10) RingTV #10
2014 Golovkin vs Adama 6-0 (Top 15)
2014 Golovkin vs Geale 2-0 (Top 5) RingTV #3
2014 Golovkin vs Rubio 1-0 (Top 10) RingTV #8
2015 Golovkin vs Murray 10-0 (Top 10) RingTV #6
2015 Golovkin vs monroe 5-0 (Top 20)
2015 Golovkin vs Lemieux 7-0 (Top 5) RingTV #4

Golovkin has faced 8 TOP10 opponents, 3 of them were in the TOP5 in his division.

He has lost rounds, they aren't judged on punch statistics.

Without wishing to split hairs, only fights since Roasdo at the start of 2013 should count when comparing to people who were full-belt holder for their reign.

In my opinion he clearly should have lost the 5th to Adama (the CompuBox numbers for this round are nuts in my opinion) and he has lost a few rounds on certain judges' cards, though I think it's been a while since he unanimously lost one.

Incidentally, in his consensus toughest fight, which occurred against Ouma, I don't believe that I had him losing more than a round; for me it was a case of Ouma making things very tight within rounds over the first half but never quite doing enough.

Adama did not win a single round, go rewatch that round 5, and I never claimed he has never lost a round according to compubox, According to my own eyes. I just talked about compubox because he has been outlanded only in 1 round.

I don't have time to re-watch it now, but my initial thoughts were that GGG spent much of the round being pushed back, didn't throw much, and took more shots than he landed, with a brief offensive burst near the end of the round not being nearly enough for him to take it back in my opinion. I also notice that two judges gave Adama a round, and I highly suspect it was this one given that GGG clearly got the better of the others.

I also think that other rounds (e.g. Murray 1 and Monroe 4) that could have very arguably been scored against him too, but he certainly has been dominant.

Adama fight was one of the easiest starting from Rosado. I don't think Golovkin was even close to losing a round against Adama.

Golovkin hasn't been the distance in 7 years; we're lucky to see such a gifted and destructive boxer in his prime.

Claim which rounds and against whom.

Then go rewatch it. Golovkin dominated the first 1.30 Minute with pipoint jab accuracy + hooks of the jab, then Adama put in some work with some good body shots + hooks but in the last 30 seconds golovkin nailed him.. He was FAR more accurate, landed more and landed the harder punches.

the Rd.4 against Monroe was clearly a Golovkin round. Monroe landed FLUSH, on many occasions but most of his punches were jabs, and Golovkin clearly landed MANY powerful punches. I would easily give the round to a guy that lands powerful punches rather than give them to a guy that lands non-powerful jabs, Add the fact the Golovkin was FAR more accurate there you have it.. its a Golovkin round, The only thing that monroe did better was workrate.

Martin Murray again, DID not win the round number one. It was a close round but GGG landed with more accuracy, had a higher work rate and was the aggressor.

I dont watch what the judges give, I trust my own eyes. Clearly there are so many incompetent judges you cant base anything on them.

GGG is my favourite active fighter.

I had Curtis Stevens winning the 4th round of their fight
I had Martin Murray winning two rounds of their fight, I forget which
I had Willie Monroe winning the 3rd and 4th rounds in their fight

So while I disagree with the post topic, I do agree he has been very dominant.

I believe Golovkin has lost rounds in that time period. Not a whole lot, but a few anyway. Monroe and Murray are two examples that were mentioned where I think he lost a couple.

And no, I'm not going to re-watch the fights in slow motion and count the exact punches at any given moment. That's not how boxing is scored. It's scored immediately.

None of this really changes anything anyway. He's a very dominant fighter against the opposition he's faced, I think we all know that.

The fact that there's an argument going back and forth about 1 particular round in which GGG may have lost is the most telling part about this post. Just think about that for a second. We are talking about the Middleweight Division, not dumpy heavyweights that Tyson was knocking out left and right. Even the great Marvelous Marvin Hagler lost rounds to less than stellar opposition. GGG is the best fighter on the planet plain and simple. Stop that fight too.

The GGG bandwagon is mostly justified but reading that list isn't exactly top class. I know you can only beat the 'talent' in this division but he needs some names, real names. Maybe tease Kessler out of retirement to see how he deals with a strong SM.

What would fighting Kessler prove, even before retirement he was plagued with injury, a rotator cuff problem as I recall (see my own thread on that) - it wouldn't prove anything other than the fact he can beat a retired and injury ridden fighter who is way past his best.

He needs to fight someone active, skilled and dangerous. There aren't really any of those below 168. Unfortunately, GGG may have to move up if he wants to get the fights his talent deserves.

He lost Round 4 to Monroe. I thought he basically gave him the round, but he still lost it for whatever reason. I don't recall any other rounds I've seen him lose though since his debut on HBO.

If he beats Kessler, Froch, Hopkins, they will immediately become bums, AAA members, etc. Golovkin will get no credit. If he beats 168-pound Ward, they will say that Ward was dehydrated. Only beating 175-pound Ward or Kovalev will get him some credit.

Whether GGG has lost a round or not is probably open to discussion. But that he has only been "Outpunched" once in the last 5 years is an absolutely stunning statistic.

No, we just score fights differently. Scoring isn't black and white. I'm not saying you are wrong by scoring all of those rounds for GGG - there's an argument he won them, just like there's an argument he lost them.

Well yes Rd4 Monroe, and Rd1 Murray could go either way but I scored them for GGG. But Rd3 Vs Monroe... how can you give monroe that round.. its IMPOSSIBLE, thats were u blind at.

Que?

He has officially lost rounds recently on judges scorecards.

He certainly lost a round to Murray and I thought he did vs Monroe also (possibly 2)?

I just checked my scorecards - I gave round 1 to GGG against Murray and gave Murray round 2. I had Murray winning the 10th up until the KD, but it's still a 10-8 round to GGG.

I actually gave Monroe the 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds against GGG when I first watched it. I just rewatched it and only gave Monroe the 4th, but I think he won that round clearly. On the second viewing I thought GGG edged both the 3rd and the 5th.

Against feather-fisted Murray and Monroe, Golovkin was just careless. It is still questionable if he lost those rounds, but even if he did, it was just a short glitch and the rounds were VERY close. It doesn't change the general picture.
