I've seen him fight a couple of times now. I think he's trained by Buddy McGirt. He looks very raw. I don't think he's had much of an amateur background and without meaning to sound harsh, it shows when he fights.

He'll go far purely on his physical attributes. But once he meets someone with footwork it's going to be tough. Haye v Valuev comes to mind!

I don't think he'll get that far. A 60% knock-out record against the types he is fighting isn't great and a majority decision against a 6-18 lad who had previously been knocked out 5 times isn't promising. Compare that with Valuev who never was on the canvas his whole career, and first had to settle for an DM was in his 43rd fight with 42-3-3 Larry Donald.

His footwork seems to be lacking too - Dong seems to be very stiff :yay:

So he's going to lose a razor thin decision to a World champion?

No I don't think he'll go to world champion level. Physically he looks like Valuev. But i agree he should be dealing with these guys by KOing them. His technique lets him down. Seems very tired and lethargic too.

Dong is comparable to John Holmes. Very big but lacks skills and technique

Very limited fighter. He gets hit easy aswell.
First one to land flush on his chin might do a job on him.
Dong-Arreola middle of next year would be fun.

I've said this before but I met this dude when I went to train in China. He was training separately from everybody else and I got the impression they didn't really know what to do with him. I never saw him spar or kick a bag or on the pads. He was just lifting weights and was the most ridiculous specimen I have ever seen. Just huge.

I always thought I'd see him turn up somewhere because there was no way he was destined to just do nothing. That said he is not a very good boxer but maybe he will get better.

That article in incredibly boring. Did anybody actually read it all? Vice used to be brilliant but I think the journalism is really bad now.

Dong is meant to be in against his compatriot Chen Ding next up. That's guaranteed to be a real Ding Dong! Sorry folks! I am half cut....

As a side this is an excellent article about another giant in the ring, Valuev
