Re: Livingstone Bramble
I seen a post somewhere on boxrec the other day it was something like who made their name of one fighter or you could say who put them on the map ............ I could have used Bramble and Boom Boom Mancini..... Because they seemed to come from nowhere Bramble and his Snake he surely
had Boom Booms measure I remember both fight's were very tough affair's especially for Boom Boom his face was disfigured at the end of both fight's and Mancini was a two fisted warrior who never took a backward step if he could help it.......... He took plenty of step's going backward's against Bramble though Bramble seemed to burn out pretty quickly or was on the scrap heap sooner then later maybe he lived the life of a celebrity![[icon_knockout.gif] :KO:](./images/smilies/icon_knockout.gif)

Re: Livingstone Bramble
Bramble had a strangle little career; had a pretty good career and looked like a world beater versus Mancini, got ko'd by Edwin Rosario, came back and won a couple of decent fights and then just turned into a tomato can overnight. I don't know what it was; turning thirty or getting ko'd by a very average fighter named Santos Cardona but after 1990 (the year he turned thirty and lost to Cardona) he went 12-22-1 with three KO losses for an overall record of 40-26-3. Was he a lot of fun to watch? Yes. Was he a fine person? I'm sure he was and is. An all time great? No.

Re: Livingstone Bramble
After he lost to Edwin "Chapo" Rosario of Puerto Rico by knockout in two, it was all downhill for him. I couldn't believe that he lost to Rosario like that. I was mad as hell. The year was 1986, I believe.
I met him in 1999 here in Atlanta. I also met Buck Smith, Meldrick Taylor and the great Carmen Basilio in this city.

Re: Livingstone Bramble
I met Livingstone after he'd beaten Mancini the first time, before his defense against Butterfly Crawley. He was really a good guy to talk with, and generous with his time. I, too, was surprised at his loss to Rosario. If I remember right, that promotion was labeled "The Preamble to Bramble" as it was intended to lead to a bout between him and Hector Camacho who was co-featured.

Re: Livingstone Bramble
Nice picture. Yes, indeed. Livingstone Bramble was a fine champion and is a great kind individual. At least of what I saw of him in '99.
Re: Livingstone Bramble
There were some quotes and a short statement from Bramble in the Ray Mancini biography, 'The Good Son'; he came across as a decent and thoughtful man.

Vegetarian, marathon runner & Rastaman. What more could you ask for in a man.
Great character & an interesting chap. Something we're lacking nowadays in boxing.
Here's a decent article.
