I wasn't big on Crawford when he first burst into the seen but the kid is rapidly improving each fight. He brutalized a normally tough and rugged Dierry jean with ease.
He is without a doubt the best 140lber right now.
Crawford vs Jean
Re: Crawford vs Jean
I like Terrance.
But I don't think he is ready for any of the elite 147 pounders, nevermind what may still be the best active one.
I think Thurman beats him. Ditto Brook.
And I saw Dierry Jean hit him several times flush and thought to myself "if Manny Pacquiao got to dish flush shots like that, no way Bud stays vertical "
Sure, Terrance will take the money and opportunity...who wouldn't?
But, I hope the guy isn't signing on for a career changing beating, one that may take years to overcome if at all.
Crawford is 2 fights removed from lightweight. He needs time to "grow into the weight", get used to absorbing punishment from bigger men.
If Gamboa hurt him, Pac certainly will...much worse.

Re: Crawford vs Jean
Crawford is very good but it's a leap for me to pick him against Pacquaio. I would still favor Manny in that fight.
Re: Crawford vs Jean
Yes, he is very good, but he just beat a "bum" or at least this is how people call Golovkin's opponents of that level.
Before he fights somebody better, it is hard to pick him over Pac.

I tend to agree. For all his obvious talent there are still holes in Crawford. Crawford was too big and powerful for Jean but when he moves up in weight he'll meet naturally bigger and stronger guys than Jean and if the bigger guys catch him like Jean did Crawford will find it much tougher.
There are some people who have Crawford in their top 5 P4P lists, I don't, not yet.

Re: Crawford vs Jean
I really like him, I was a fan when he beat that lanky Mexican (Sanabria, was it?) a couple fights before he did Ricky Burns for the lightweight title.
But sometimes--last night & versus Gamboa, he seems too eager to exchange when you think "You really shouldn't have got hit like that". Seems to have a solid chin, but I think it's well within him to beat dudes like that without taking such heavy, flush shots back.
I know it's a hurt game & all, but like I said, I'm a fan of the guy & want him to have a longer career. Getting hit with shots from way back in the stands by dudes who shouldn't be landing like that... Well, it's obvious he's determined to make himself a star, by stopping guys that other people haven't, & that's one way to go about it.
Kinda makes me uncomfortable to see him wanna emulate Arturo Gatti, sort of thing.

I think Pacquiao would set a catch weight for the fight.verballistic wrote:I agree...if he fights Pac do you think it will be at 140 or 147?kidbazooka1 wrote:I wasn't big on Crawford when he first burst into the seen but the kid is rapidly improving each fight. Pac may have more say in determining what weight since he is the bigger draw.
But i also have a tough time seeing him beat Manny.
Re: Crawford vs Jean
I'd call it a unknowable. Crawford would have to beat Pacquiao. Don't think I'd be confident of picking Crawford to win. But if Crawford were to fight and beat Pacquiao I would not be surprised. Pacquiao is going on 37 and there is a ton of mileage on him. Crawford is younger and very skilled. I'd say Crawford is in the 6-10 range P4P.kidbazooka1 wrote:I think Pacquiao would set a catch weight for the fight.verballistic wrote:I agree...if he fights Pac do you think it will be at 140 or 147?kidbazooka1 wrote:I wasn't big on Crawford when he first burst into the seen but the kid is rapidly improving each fight. Re: Crawford vs Jean
Crawford reminds me of a smaller Hearns, as I have mentioned before. He is a superior boxer who loves to trade. If he doesn't cure himself of taking unnecessary incoming fire it will catch up with him. He has a good but not great chin.
3G was taking unnecessary fire the last couple of fights but when it came to facing a bonafide puncher he was touched very little. 3G has a better chin than Crawford and more firepower. TC needs to box a bit more cautiously.

Re: Crawford vs Jean
Just watched 3G v Lemieux again. I think Lemieux actually hurt him in the 6th.
