Hopefully this fight will get put back a month or so.

Fighting in Russia on Christmas day - not even a Hollywood script-writer would come up with that one.

As many have said, I can't see Enzo not winning this unless it goes to the scorecards.

Enzo should take his time before he agrees to anything. If, and it's a big if, Ovill does the job in Argentina, a third fight between them makes sense for both and is easy to make.
Good shout! Probably being offered right good dough to fight Jones in Russia though I'd imagine.
Yeah, didn't someone say last week that Jones is a Russian citizen now? Might as well be fighting Drago over there :OhYes:

Serious question, I thought it was the Russians that complained that Russian was a "less than desirable place to live". If Roy has obtained citizenship, surely he would have had to have spent more time there to get it - and he won't have given up his US citizenship either, but I'd be interested to see how many US citizens have become Russian citizens and vice -versa lately. I suspect more may go in the opposite direction.

What, you think Roy Jones might knock him out? At this stage in his career? :o

When will Roy Jones's last fight be exactly? What the f*ck has he spent his money on?

No chance is he knocking out someone, but he will get the decision if Enzo doesn't KO him.

Should be a good fight.

Hopefully Enzo wins and gets another crack at a title. Also hope he gets a decent payday from this.

I think even now, Roy will be too good to get stopped by Enzo. He'll take a few hard ones on the gloves mostly, for sure, but I think he'll ride it out.

After getting a gift against that polish nobody there's no way Roy should be favourite over anyone in the top 100, he's journeyman level now

Can you imagine having a mate - or perhaps worse, a relative involved in a scenario like that? Or for the lads on here who do box, it could have been them. I believe he was from Finland that ref - an utter f*cking waste of oxygen. I don't even think he got banned. Typical boxing story :witzend: .

That was the night that Kell Brook fought someone - Jennings, I think - crap fight and Kell won on a cut, I believe. That fight was actually competitive in many imaginations going into it, so that was a shame. It MAY have been the night Groves kayoed Paul Smith - or I might have just watched them in the same pub.
My point is however - Smith-Groves aside, if it was that night - all the other fights on TV were pretty dull affairs and Enzo's performance was basically the pick of the bunch. He went after Frenkl from the off throwing virtually non-stop punches and looked highly effective and a real nightmare to fight.................of course, that was his downfall. Nothing comes back at you and you start to think you can do whatever you want.
The Enzo-Frenkel fight was on the Magnificent 7 card, wasn't it? Brook-Jennings was definitely on the same bill (I remember telling my mates it was going to be fight of the night, which I got ridiculed over for ages after the event ). But yeah, the rest of the show was poor & I can't remember many of the other fights tbh - the card fell apart completely and was nothing like advertised. Think DeGale scored a very early knockout over someone?

Smith-Groves was much more recent though.
Yeah it was an absolutely terrible ko. I think i was actually up shouting at the ref to stop it once he let Enzo up. I had a great seat for that and could see his eyes were gone.

The best ko of that night was the fella in the green top in the crowd who was being a bully and got levelled!

Russia offers very attractive tax rates for celebrities and the rich. I think it is as low as 4 or 5%.
Gerard Depardieu moved there from France for those reasons.

Enzo will stop RJJ.

I really do not want to see RJJ in with Haye.

RJJ was the fighter of the 90's a true great. Unfortunately he's tried to ruin his legacy by going on so long. It's a credit to his ability that he's gone on for so long.

Enzo would be fun as it's not a total mismatch and Enzo doesn't pull the trigger like he used to.

Haye still pulls that trigger. I would hate to see RJJ get hurt. Also Haye was never the most humble person and I wouldn't enjoy his commentary pre and after fight.

I imagine that decision will be made by the cash rich promoter in Roy's favour - and Enzo will be told to like it or lump it.

(unless a belt appears from somewhere)

Macarinelli v Roy Jones Jr

Post by earsjohn »

Fight has been made for the WBA Super Cruiser title on 12th December (to be broadcast on Bxntn).

Where will this be? Surely Jones won't get licensed in the UK?

I can't think of many worse ideas of a title fight.

Hold on so two people not in the WBA's top 15 can fight for the vacant 'Super' title in effect by-passing the 'regular' (and 'interim for that matter) champion??

The quicker people stop treating the WBA as a genuine organisation the better!

Having said that big and very winnable fight for Enzo, hope he pulls it off and opens up some options for him down the line.

Shame this hasn't been snapped up by Sky.

Welsh legend Enzo Macarinelli to challenge P4P great Roy Jones to become 2 time world super duper champion. While one time undisputed greatest fighter in the universe and first ballot HoFer Roy Jones Jr aims for title in his 5th weight division

Sky could definitely have hyped this into something it isn't to the ppv fans.
