It's up now so I can tell you. I was laughing my head off yesterday afternoon during the Scott Harrison-Guzman camp conference call.

Guzman's rep Mike Marley had a good one liner set up about the Warren/Maloney split:

"It's the saddest break up I've seen since Brokeback Mountain."

Frank came back with: "We were never that close...I just want you to know that I don't turn the other cheek."

Yeah I spoke to Mike yesterday, he told me that line, really made me laugh.

That poor geezer at saddoboxing, it wasn't even him who wrote the piece insinuating Calzaghe was injured.

I'm really looking forward to this fight. Top marks to Scott for taking on Guzman, I'm beginning to lean towards the Scotsman as this gets nearer, not convinced about Guzman yet. Might have to get some tape of him.

Guzman seems a bit of a banger but at 122 and below. Scott's chin is great and he's fornicating huge. Guzman will have to peck him to death.

From what I hear of Guzman he has decent skills, but his natural inclination in the past was the stand there and try and whack people out. I understand that of late he's been standing off and boxing more, hence the distance fights.

What is noticable though is that Guzman hasn't even really faced fantastic competition at Super Bantamweight. He's a belt holder, but not a proven champion in my book. His reputation is large though, so in action he must have had some impressive performances.

I have changed my mind about this 3/4 times!!!

Slightly leaning towards Guzman but then i think his style is made for harrison

Then i think Scott if trouble making weight may weaken in a hard fight aginst a puncher in the late rounds

Then i think Guzman is too small for Scott

And then , and then , and then.................

...and that me old china, is what you call a 50-50 fight, which is what it is supposed to be all about. This is PRECISELY the kind of fight that british fans want to see, a belt holder taking on someone he isn't the overwhelming favourite to beat.

Great to hear this fight is a definite now. I'm looking forward to this as much as Lacy/Calzaghe - three excellent world title fights in the UK in March.

I've seen Guzman twice, and he's not afraid of a tear up that's for sure. Terrific hitter at superbantam, but Scot is a massive "featherweight".

A few have gone the distance recently for Guzman, but the boxers he's been facing are world class & durable. So could be he's just finding his feet at featherweight, much like Morales had to. A very dangerous nights work for Harrison.

All good stuff - quick note, the majority of these fights if not all are promoted by allegedly, hows about a bit of credit where its due people??

I've no problem with giving credit where it's due and never have. Things are really looking up this year as far as British boxing is concerned, and there is no doubt that Frank has gotten involved in making that so big time.

I like Guzman in this one - Harrison might have size over him but, in my opinion, thats where his advantages end.

Er no, Braehead is certainly not in a nice area. Its a hellhole.

That said, Glasgow is a great town for a night out, so if the fight doesn't start too late, you can get into Glasgow and have a good time.

i was looking thru guzman's record the other day and thinking the same thing.

guzman hasn't fought anyone outstanding. his best win is over an ageing agapito sanchez.

generally he's dealt with everyone he's fought the way a good fighter should do though.

i still tip guzman to win this one. maybe late or on pts by about 4 or 5 pts.

Good point, but who exactly has Harrison beaten? He hasn't beaten anyone outstanding either.

there always seems to be a dowt about scots credensals but he has had i think 12championship bout they said abelyan would beat him yet he failed
he gave McCullough one hell of a beaten everytime he beats some one he was nothing special yet when he caught beat bye medena he was outclassedby the more expierance medena but when he beat him medena was finished is it not about time you gave scott harrisson credit for how good he is he say he want the devineing bout i for one hope he gets it for he is a true champion the best scotland has produce for decades if not thee best we went overboard with hatton which is now justified yet the amir khan get all the putter going overboard and tv aswell only time will tell i think he good but wait and see if he produces the goods they went overboard about him beating daniel thorpe in two or three rounds yet a young boxer in scotland knocked him out in 89 seconds in his second bout that was scots staple mate gary young so the point i am making is give credit when it due .

Good point, but who exactly has Harrison beaten? He hasn't beaten anyone outstanding either.

Harrison has beaten better opposition overall. Chacon, Medina, McCulloch, Abelyan, Hussein were all good names.

couple of things that Scott said did make me think the first was
"I have a chin that's made of granite and punches just bounce off me.I have a point to prove to the world in this fight."

I hope he isn't going to just try and walk through Guzmans punches, Harrison is at his beat when he boxes and uses his strength on the inside.

Also he said
"In the meantime I'll go on making more title defences as a featherweight or step up to super-featherweight if the challenge, and the money, is there.

So if he does beat Guzman then going by this he won't step up just yet, unless he can get a shot at one of the big names at SuperFeather

After reading McCulloughs book, McCullough described Harrison as the strongest fighter he'd ever faced, he couldn't believe his strength, saying he threw his best shots and Harrison didn't even flinch.

If Guzman trades with Harrison he's going to get hurt badly. I fancy Harrison bu have a bet on Guzman.

Its ironic James - when you say that Hussain, McCullough, Abelyn, Medina etc are good names

Naz's dance card was 10 times that yet he got slagged off for his level of competition - 'the 1 time he stepped up against MAB' he was shown up for the fraud he was'

the interesting thing about Harrison for me and this has always interested me- in a funny way this makes me feel that Naz was indeed a great fighter and was not given the credit he deserved.

At the moment we (as in the UK fight fan) will say Harrison is one of our best and is a good champion yet has not fought ANYONE as near as good as Kelley, Johnson (not the shot version Scott beat up), Ingle, Bungu, Barrera - indeed I would argue Badillo and Augie Sanchez were as good as what Harrison has faced.

I am not slagging anyone off here - just making the point about the double standards we sometimes have about fighters because of our 'dislike' of 'favouritism' we have.

Actually people may argue I have just done that with Harrison - if so I will happily take any points on board

Only a fool would ignore how good a fighter Hamed was at his peak. He fell short against Barerera but by then he was on the slide, and hadn't really prepared properly for such a tough assignment. He became seduced with his supposed invincibility and ability to crush opponents with brute force.

The knock on Hamed was that he never bounced back. Unlike Morales PAcman, Barerera etc, he wasn't able to come back from that defeat and prove himself, but by then, I think he was too filthy rich to really care.
