Re: Ken Buchanan vs Floyd Mayweather
It's a toss up for me. Ken Buchanan, the one that fought before he faced the great Roberto Duran in NYC, was a hell of a fighter.
The great Floyd Mayweather, Jr. may win this one, but, it ain't gonna be easy.

Name them how about Pacman/Cotto that'll do...........Look I'm not saying Ken couldn't fight because he did beat some good fighter's who would you say was Buchanans best win [36 yr old Ortiz or Ismael Laguna] He beat a young Jim Watt also Buchanan had talent but not on the same level as Mayweather he could never beat a Mayweather that's just my opinion.
Re: Ken Buchanan vs Floyd Mayweather
Not at all though Billy Schwer would have given Ken a good fight, I can see why some think he'd handle Floyd - because Ken beat Laguna, a great result. Floyd would have beaten Ken, on points - Ken had a good jab and footwork but Floyd could fight going forwards, backwards and sideways.HomicideHenry wrote:Man you all must really hate Ken Buchanan

Re: Ken Buchanan vs Floyd Mayweather
I don't think Buchanan would beat Mayweather in a hypothetical match up either, I do disagree that his opponents are so much better than Ken. A peak Pac man is obviously better but Mayweather fought over the hill Pac Man, and the rest Cotto included no not reallyClivePatrickLyons wrote:dr_devious wrote:Name themClivePatrickLyons wrote: Yes I have buddy and i'v seen Mayweather beat fighter's that are panel's ahead of Buchanan in ability

Come on man you disagree that Mayweathers opponents were better then Buchanans so what opponent's of Buchanans are you talking about
that were on the same level[besides the obvious Duran] as Diego Corrales/Jose Luis Costillo/Aturo Gatti/Juan Manual Marquez just to name afew.
it will be interesting to see who you come up with

At lightweight or Jr. lightweight, Diego Corrales, Jose Luis Castillo nor Genaro Hernandez are in the same level of Ismael Laguna. A fantastic boxer himself. Ken Buchanan beat him twice. I think Laguna should have had the verdict in the first fight in the heat of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Ironically, San Juan is the place where Laguna lost his two championships.
The two Buchanan vs Laguna fights were very close and could've gone either way

Everybody knows that. We are talking about lightweight competition. Pretty Boy Floyd didn't had enough quality wins nor enough fights at lightweightClivePatrickLyons wrote:THE FACT IS MAYWEATHER FOUGHT MUCH BETTER COMPETION THAN BUCHANAN ANY-ONE THAT KNOWS BOXING WILL AGREE![]()

Re: Ken Buchanan vs Floyd Mayweather
You said Mayweather's opponents were panels ahead of Buchanan, not Buchanan's opponents. However peak lightweight Duran decimates any of Mayweather's opponents and Ismael Laguna isn't that shabby either.ClivePatrickLyons wrote:dr_devious wrote:Name themClivePatrickLyons wrote: Yes I have buddy and i'v seen Mayweather beat fighter's that are panel's ahead of Buchanan in ability

Quite apart from your stand on any given boxing issue, Clive, and frankly some of them push the boundaries of the rational pretty far, in general terms you're clearly crazy as a shithouse rat. No offence and all.

I for one cannot stand Mayweather or any-one that puts shit on the GREATEST Ali...............I never thought that a fight between
Buchanan and Mayweather would ever define anybody's knowledge especially when THEY PICK MAYWEATHER TO WIN
