Dec 12th and 19th

Post by WelshJack »

With these cards not being that far away is anyone else worried these potential cards of the year are going to end up being full of one sided mismatches

Has anyone heard any rumours of opponents for any of the fighters already on these cards?

I worry about the same thing before near enough every half decent card nowadays! Something always ends up going Pete Tong! 12th and 19th will probably be no different! Bit cynical and pessimistic I know  Hope I am wrong though.

Not seen anything yet. 'Yet' being the operative word!

Dec 12th has AJ/Whyte and CEJ/Spike in place and if Brook/Chaves gets added, that's a very good card regardless of what gets added. If Campbell and Mitchell also end up in decent fights then great.

With the 19th, I just hope that we finally get to see Lee/Saunders. Anything beyond that is a bonus!

I'll judge them on the night, plenty of cards have been shaping up nicely this year and ended up wank.

In an interview with IFL Sims said Mitchell will be fighting a guy in the WBC top 10 (I think he said it could be for a mandatory position), with Mitchell currently at No.3 my Guess is that he will fight Marsili as he's No.2 and getting on in age and will be cheap (Zlaticanin is No.1 but he's with Haymon so would cost too much).
If anyone has a better guess the WBC top 10 is

1 .- Dejan Zlaticanin (Montenegro)
2 .- Emiliano Marsili (Italy) SILVER
3 .- Kevin Mitchell (GB)
4 .- Ivan Redkach (Ukraine)
5 .- Franklin Mamani (Bolivia)
6 .- Nery Saguilan (Mexico)
7 .- Mickey Bey Jr. (US)
8 .- Luke Campbell (GB) INTL
9 .- Miguel Vazquez (Mexico)
10 .- Ivan Cano (Mexico)

Would love to see him in with Luke Campbell, that would be a proper fight. No chance of it happening but still...

Yeh Hearn is hoping they both win a world title so he can put that in a stadium in Hull or London and make that a PPV.

There's a very good American card on the 19th as well....it will be boxing overload if nothing falls through.

Even assuming all the fights made from this point are gross mismatches, if nothing falls through (still far from a guarantee) the 19th will have Lee-Saunders, Teper-Helenius, Jennings-Ortiz, Walters-Sosa, Shabranskyy-Gonzalez, and Rosado-Clottey. In terms of competively matched fights at world or fringe-world level, I believe that this would be one of the most stacked days of boxing in a while, though I suppose if you're just looking for British fights it wouldn't offer much depth.

Think we'll be in a better position to judge both cards in a few days. Bellew/Mitchell/Campbell opponents announced on Tuesday, hopefully find out if Brook's gonna be on the 12th card, and presume we should know Liam Smith opponent most likely this week as well.

Hand injuries, had to have an operation to sort them out.
