Andre Ward vs Bernard Hopkins (probably gonne happen)

Post by Chepppaaa »

watched an interview and oscar is talking about hopkins wanting one last fight against the best super middleweight in the world. oscar said, hopkins wants to conquer the super middleweight division, cause he pretty much jumped from middleweight to lh.

he didnt say no name, but when you talk about the best super middleweight in the world, than there is realy just one name available.

Then Hopkins is going back on what he himself has said in the past.

It would be an interesting fight though. And BHop is still very highly ranked.

Ward easily.

Ward probably had the beating of a peak Hopkins & although Hopkins is way better than any other 50 year old fighter in living memory, he's not what he once was.

Ward isn't the best SMW DeGale is, what Ward did 5 years ago is irrelevant now and he's fighting at LHW anyway.

I didn't read the post properly so ignore one of the vote's for B-HOP to win I thought it was a dream fight when both were in their prime's even
though B-HOP is a future HOF I think it would be very harsh to knock some one back from earning a 300k payday and then a man over 50 gets
the fight later on Ward is be coming a joke :oo

Good point. I could definitely see BHop fighting DeGale or Froch coming out of retirement for a Vegas fight.

lol at this.
Hopkins vs Ward is not going to happen.
HBO is in the process of locking down Ward for his next three fights and the network is no longer interested in Hopkins.
Nobody else seems interested in fighting a guy over 50 either.
Golovkin, Abraham, Degale..................all mentioned, none happening.

At this point there are very few fights involving Hopkins that sound even remotely interesting.

Danny Green at cruiser................................but Green is hell-bent on fighting a junior middleweight
Roy Jones jr 3.....................IF he defeats Enzo which is unlikely
Julio Cesar Chavez jr............................don't bother with a weight class or catch weight, just tell JCCjr anything between 165-185 is good.
Zack Dunn......................................he has a belt, too bad it's a belt Hopkins snubs his nose at

Seriously..................almost fell asleep posting that list of "interesting" Hopkins opponents.

Hopkins is too old.

He managed the last decade out of experience and sheer stubbornness.

I rate Kovalev personally, but feel he would lost to Hopkins had Hopkins been 4/5+ years younger.

His reflexes are not there anymore. No shame, but come on guys - he is 50+

As pleased as I am Martin Murray has the shot at Arthur Abraham, I'd have loved to have seen Hopkins get that one. A great chance for him to get a 3rd weight class title and win a strap at 51.
Would have been a winnable fight and a fantastic acheivement to top of a first class career

Unfortunately, Bernard is in a position similar (and even worse) than Ward's. He was a big name, but he is not as relevant anymore. For Abraham, BHop is a big risk with no additional reward.

Yes and I hear ward's already deep into negotiations with Sugar Ray Dinkleton, Lucky Larry Laroue, and maybe a rematch with that what's his name guy he fought before.

No friggin way. A peak Hopkins had incredible stamina and activity and would not have let Ward dictate the pace. Bernard would get inside on Ward and bust him up. Very few had as good an inside game as a prime Bernard. If Ward thinks he could hit and headbutt the way he normally does he would quickly find out that Bernard is way better at that than him.
