Super-Featherweight Awards

Post by PredatorHayds »

Each year I do a little summary of each division in the following categories. Please feel free to let me know if your opinion differs.

International Fighter of the Year- Javier Fortuna

One of the best wins in the division against Vasquez. Followed up with a win against limited opposition but enough in a division plagued by inactivity between top level fighters.( miura gets this award by a mile if he beats Vargas in November though)

Domestic Fighter of the year- Stephen Smith

He probably had the best win on paper for a British fighter this year beating Boschiero.

Fight of the Year- Roman Martinez- Orlando Salido 2.

Easily the saga of the year for the division. It was my favourite fight at the weight that I saw this year. Knockdowns and controversy. I thought it stole the show on both undercards it featured on.

Upset of the Year- Sonsana beating Estrella.

Monster upset. I really liked Estrella and was surprised Sonsana was able to a) beat him b) stop him.

Uchiyama Vs Jomthong for the KO? That was a brutal shot, Miura Vs Dib was pretty good too.
Prospect for the division would be an interesting one, Naito and Ito, who fought each other, would be worthy of a mention.
A top fight that you may, or may not have seen, was Nakamura Vs Kaneko. That was sen-fornicating-sational

I can't believe how easily Miura beat Dib.

Can't wait for his next fight. Hope he puts on a show for the Americans.
